๐ŸŽค MEET ONE OF OUR KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Dr. Nurzal Efiyani Binti Ghazali
Universiti Teknologi Malaysia

Director of the UTM Centre for Engineering Education and President of the Society for Engineering Education Malaysia.

Her work sits at the intersection of engineering and how we teach itโ€”the Internet of Things, mobility management, and service-learningโ€”and she consults across Southeast Asia and Japan on outcome-based education, project-based learning, and AI for educators.

Climate resilience is not built only in laboratories and field sites. It is built in classrooms, by the engineers we are training right now for conditions no one has designed for yet. That is the conversation Dr. Ghazali brings to ICCR 2026.

๐ŸŒ‹ MEET ONE OF OUR KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Dr. Christopher G. Newhall
World-renowned Volcano Scientist

Dr. Newhall's work is about forecasting eruptions and helping people live safely alongside volcanoes. He has followed the question of volcano and climate interactions for close to 50 years, working with the pioneers of the field.

He continues volcano research part-time and, with his wife Glenda, is developing a small botanical garden and nature center in Albay. He has also advised thesis projects from Partido State and universities around the world, which makes this keynote something closer to a homecoming than a visit.

For a region that lives in the shadow of Mt. Isarog and Mayon, few conversations matter more than hazard science and how communities build their lives around it.

The recognition was conferred by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), in collaboration with the Foundation for Outstanding Professionals, Inc. (FOPI) and in cooperation with the Philippine Association of the Professional Regulatory Board Members, Inc. (PAPRBMI) during the PRC Awards held earlier today, September 4, 2026, at The Manila Hotel.

The award recognizes professionals who demonstrate excellence, integrity, dedication, and meaningful contributions to their fields and the communities they serve.

The recognition reflects the kind of professional leadership and service that strengthens ParSUโ€™s academic community while highlighting the universityโ€™s growing contribution to the professional community.
