Partido State University proudly congratulates 𝐌𝐫. 𝐃𝐚𝐫𝐰𝐢𝐧 𝐀. 𝐆𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐬, Assistant Professor I from the College of Science and Head of the In Vivo Assay Laboratory, for securing 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐎𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐨𝐫𝐲 during the 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 held on June 9–10, 2026, at the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture.

Garbeles received the award for his dissertation, “𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐬: 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐄𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐂𝐚𝐯𝐞-𝐃𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐮𝐦 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐠𝐠𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭 (𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐦 𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐚 𝐋.) 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧,” which was funded through the ParSU Dissertation Grant Program.

The study developed a pelletized microbial bio-inoculant from beneficial microorganisms isolated from Adiangao Cave in San Jose, Camarines Sur, and assessed its potential in eggplant production. Findings revealed that the microbial consortium enhanced plant growth and yield, reduced dependence on synthetic fertilizers, and increased farm profitability.

By transforming locally sourced microbial resources into a sustainable agricultural input, the research offers a practical and cost-effective solution that can help farmers improve productivity while promoting environmentally responsible farming practices.

The recognition highlights ParSU’s growing contribution to research-driven innovations that address community needs, advance sustainable agricultural development, and strengthen the University’s culture of research excellence.

A total of 378 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 take center stage today, celebrating years of dedication, perseverance, and academic growth as they move toward new chapters beyond the university.
