Since its establishment, the Natural Products Research Center (NPRC), through its attached laboratory, the Bioassay and Potential Drug Screening Research Laboratory, has supported student researchers and collaborators in advancing 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵.

The Natural Products Research Center proudly introduces 𝗡𝗣𝗥𝗖 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁, a series that recognizes researchers who conducted their studies at the Bioassay and Potential Drug Screening Research Laboratory and celebrates their outstanding contributions and achievements in natural products research.

Through the dedication and passion of these researchers, the Natural Products Research Center continues to advance its mission of promoting high-impact, evidence-based natural products research, and developing innovations that contribute to health, environmental sustainability, and community development. Due to the high demand of laboratory service requests, please be informed that all available slots for the month of 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 at the Bioassay and Potential Drug Screening Research Laboratory are now 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗱.

𝘽𝙞𝙘𝙤𝙡 𝙍𝙄𝙎𝙀𝙍 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙟𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝟱 𝘿𝙤𝙘𝙪𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙀𝙩𝙝𝙣𝙤𝙗𝙤𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙆𝙣𝙤𝙬𝙡𝙚𝙙𝙜𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝘿𝙚𝙡 𝘾𝙖𝙧𝙢𝙚𝙣-𝘿𝙚𝙡 𝙍𝙤𝙨𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙤, 𝙈𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙗𝙖𝙘

Bicol RISER Project 5 successfully conducted its two-day ethnobotanical survey in Del Carmen-Del Rosario, Minalabac, Camarines Sur on July 28-29, 2026, the second survey site of the project.

Conducting community surveys is an important step in understanding and addressing community problems. This survey focused on identifying mosquito-deterrent plants traditionally used by community members in Del-Carmen Del-Rosario for mosquito control.

Through the active participation of local residents, we were able to collect ethnobotanical information that will contribute to the project's research and development of sustainable, plant-based mosquito deterrent solutions for the community.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the community of Del Carmen-Del Rosario, Minalabac, Camarines Sur for their warm welcome, and for sharing their ethnobotanical knowledge. And to the barangay officials headed by Hon. Dominador Macawili Jr for their support and assistance which contributed to the successful conduct of the survey.

During their training, our interns were exposed to the research and development activities of the Natural Products Research Center, alongside assisting in the services offered by the laboratory.

With their training protocol now complete, we are incredibly proud of their laboratory precision, dedication, and scientific rigor. We wish them continued success as they become catalysts for future discoveries and innovations in the biological sciences.
