Gingoog City Colleges (GCC) concluded its 2026 Nutrition Month celebration through separate culmination programs for the Junior and Senior High School Departments at the GCC basketball court on July 30.

Anchored on the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN), the month-long celebration aimed to promote healthy eating habits, nutrition awareness, and student participation through various educational activities.

In the morning, the Junior High School Department held its culmination program immediately after the flag ceremony with an awarding of winners from the different Nutrition Month contests.

Among the competitions recognized were the Poster and Slogan Making Contest, Cooking Contest, and Healthy Baon Contest, which showcased the students' creativity, skills, and understanding of proper nutrition.

Meanwhile, the Senior High School Department conducted its own awarding ceremony in the afternoon after the regular class schedule.

Likewise, winners of the different contests received certificates and recognition for their outstanding performances throughout the celebration.

Moreover, school administrators and teachers congratulated the participants and encouraged them to continue practicing healthy lifestyles beyond Nutrition Month.

Furthermore, the culmination highlighted the importance of balanced nutrition and collective action in achieving a healthier school community.

In the end, the successful celebration reflected GCC's commitment to supporting the goals of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition through meaningful and engaging student activities.

Before the drums echoed through the streets of Gingoog City, before the colorful costumes danced beneath the July sun, and before the cheers of the crowd filled the grandstand, there were weeks of sacrifice, perseverance, and unwavering dedication.

For the contingent of Gingoog City Colleges, Grand Kaliga was never merely a competition; it was a story waiting to be told.

As Gingoog City commemorated its 66th Charter Day celebration on July 23, 2026, thousands gathered to witness the cultural spectacle that is the Grand Kaliga Festivalโ€” a thanksgiving celebration deeply rooted in the traditions of the Manobo and Higaonon people. More than the rhythmic beats and synchronized movements, the festival remains a living testament to the city's gratitude, prosperity, and cultural identity.

For weeks, the students of Gingoog City Colleges poured their hearts into countless hours of rehearsals. Every drop of sweat on the training grounds became an offering of dedication. Practices stretched from exhausting morning to late evenings as performers repeatedly perfected every movement, formation, and transitionโ€” not for individual recognition, but for the honor of representing their alma mater and preserving the cultural story they were entrusted to tell.

Their efforts bore fruit. Standing proudly among five contingents, Gingoog City Colleges emerged as the 2nd Place winnerโ€” a remarkable achievement made possible by the collective determination of its performers and mentors.

Behind this success is the visionary choreographer, Ruffy D. Pepito, whose artistry transformed movements into meaningful narratives. Tirelessly working alongside the performers, Pepito crafted more than just a dance pieceโ€” he created a masterpiece woven with symbolism, heritage, and purpose.

Every step carried meaning. Every formation spoke of identity and thanksgiving. Every prop was intentionally and carefully designed by Keith Dianne Abao, Gabriel Buque, Khaell B. Socorum and Karylle Jane D. Abao to represent fragments of Gingoog City's rich cultural tapestry.

Even the colors that adorned the performers were carefully chosen, each symbolizing values deeply rooted in the spirit of Grand Kaligaโ€” unity, abundance, resilience, and gratitude. And the all head of these piece, Mr. Lemuel J. Lucaban who visualized every idea.

What may appear to spectators as a beautiful cultural presentation was, in truth, the culmination of sleepless nights, aching muscles, and countless sacrifices made behind the scenes. The dancers performed not merely with their feet but with their hearts, breathing life into every beat of the drums.

Their 2nd place finish is more than a title engraved on a plaque. It is a reflection of the countless hours spent practicing. It is the reward for every stumble that became synchronization, every correction that became perfection, and every sacrifice that blossomed into triumph.

Grand Kaliga reminds Gingoognons that thanksgiving is not only found in victories but also in the journey that leads to them. For Gingoog City Colleges, the greatest achievement lies not solely in bringing home a trophy but in becoming storytellers of cultureโ€” honoring their roots while inspiring others through their artistry.

Students of Gingoog City Colleges (GCC) set aside their classroom activities to participate for the Green Advocacy Day (Eco-Responsibility Day) on June 26, 2026, at 4:15 p.m.

The activity gathered students from different year levels in a shared effort to maintain a clean, safe, and healthy learning environment.

Before the cleaning began, students assembled on the school grounds and were given instructions on their assigned areas.

Equipped with cleaning materials, they worked together to sweep pathways, collect litter, arrange classrooms, and tidy different parts of the campus.

By the end of the afternoon, the campus looked cleaner and more organized through the collective efforts of the GCC community.

The Green Advocacy Day served as a simple yet meaningful reminder that small acts of cooperation can make a lasting difference.

Aspiring writers and communicators gathered for the Campus Journalism Workshop, which carried the theme "Campus Journalism: Understanding the Noise, Weaponizing Truth Against Violence, Algorithm, and Digital Deception." The activity equipped students with essential skills in responsible journalism and media literacy in the digital age.

The program opened with welcoming remarks from Ma'am Maria Daniela Carcido. Meanwhile, Harvey Vallente and Prince Carlyle Cabeguin served as emcees and introduced the resource speakers.

The workshop featured discussions from experienced speakers specializing in different journalism categories. Gabriel Buque shared insights on Science and Technology Writing and Editorial Cartooning, while Mary Margareth Carcido discussed News Writing, Broadcasting, and Feature Writing, and Kent Daryl Gulario provided guidance on Editorial and Column Writing.

Following the lectures, participants were challenged to apply what they had learned by writing articles based on assigned topics. The activity allowed students to practice their skills and gain experience in campus journalism.

Afterward, Ma'am Carcido led the awarding of certificates and tokens of appreciation to the guest speakers. She also shared practical tips for aspiring competitors in preparation for the Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC).

The workshop concluded with closing remarks from Sir Ricardo Ballozos. The event served as a valuable learning experience for future journalists as they prepare to tell stories that inform, inspire, and seek the truth.
