This is Hospital de Sant Pau, a vast complex built in the early 1900s by architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner.

At the time, it completely changed how hospitals were designed.

Instead of one large building, it was created as a series of separate pavilions, surrounded by gardens and connected by underground tunnels.

The idea was simple but revolutionary:

Give patients light, fresh air, and space.

Each pavilion had its own function, and patients were treated in calmer, more open environments—very different from the crowded hospitals of the time.

And then there’s the design.

Ceramics, mosaics, sculptures, colors… everything was carefully chosen.

Because the belief was that beauty itself could help people heal.

Today, it’s no longer a working hospital, but it remains a UNESCO World Heritage Site—and one of the most unique places to visit in Barcelona.

HAPPENING NOW: The Philippine Embassy in Spain met with Mr. Tomas Melendez, International Managing Director of Calidad Pascual at its headquarters in Madrid today, 06 April 2026.

The meeting reaffirmed strong bilateral business ties and explored opportunities to further expand collaboration in the Philippine market

Founded in 1969, Calidad Pascual is one of Spain’s leading food and beverage companies, with a diversified portfolio spanning dairy, plant-based products, mineral water, and nutrition. The company is widely known for its flagship dairy brand, Leche Pascual.

Calidad Pascual already maintains an established presence in the Philippines through its joint venture with Asia Brewery Inc. The meeting provided a platform to discuss the company’s ongoing operations, potential growth plans, and shared priorities in food innovation, sustainability, and investment.

Representing the Embassy at the meeting are Consul Eric Valenzuela, Head of Political and Economic Section, Consul Dyan Kristine Miranda-Pastrana, Head of Public Diplomacy Section, Commercial Counsellor Althea Karen Antonio, Head of the Philippine Trade and Investment Center and Mr. Carlos Javier Barcelon, PTIC Consultant.

 Mga Pilipino na matagal nang naninirahan o nagtatrabaho sa Spain o Andorra.
 Kailangan po na kayo ay kasalukuyang Pilipino o di kaya’y dual citizen;
 May katibayan ng inyong pagdating o pamamalagi sa Spain or Andorra (katulad ng mga dokumento sa Spain o Andorra na may date, stamp ng pagdating sa inyong pinaka unang paspsort, mga sulat na may petsa, mga remittance slips na may date, unang kontrata, unang mga IDs sa Spain o iba pa)
 Hindi pa nabigyan ng Gawad APJL simula 2019 hanggang kasalukyan.

 Mag fill-up ng form at kailangan na mai-submit ito bago sa nakatakdang deadline sa 03 July 2026, 5:00pm.
