NEWS | Lyceum of the Philippines University-Cavite Honors Mothers with โNanayโs Day outโ
Mothers from Barangay Buenavista and Manggahan gathered at the Lyceum of the Philippines University, Cavite, Lemongrass on Friday, May 22, 2026, for a day of glamour and pampering organized by Lyceum of the Philippines University - Cavite through Community Outreach and Service Learning Office (COSel) in partnership with Alumni Relations Office (ARO) and Center for Technical Education (CTE).
Dr. Amanda Jane C. Menta, Head of the Alumni Relations, warmly welcomed the participating Nanays and expressed her gratitude for the unwavering dedication and sacrifices of mothers in their families and communities. In her welcome remarks, she emphasized that Nanayโs Day Out is a post-Motherโs Day celebration that was created to recognize and honor the Ilaw ng Tahanan, whose daily efforts and contributions often go unnoticed.
The event was held as a post-Motherโs Day Celebration and highlighted the importance of recognizing mothers and their contributions to their families and communities.
One of the highlights of the program was a surprise hair spa and makeover session conducted in collaboration with Tourism students from the College of International Tourism and Hospitality Management (CITHM) and members of CITHM Awakened Circles of Elite Students (ACES). Through hairstyling and makeup services, the student volunteers showcased their skills while allowing the mothers to relax and enjoy a day focused on self-care.The participating students shared that the activity allowed them to apply their skills while giving back meaningfully to the Nanays
Throughout the makeover session, smiles and excitement filled the venue as participants went through each stage, from hair spa treatments to makeup applications, including brow styling, contouring, and lipstick matching.
โMasaya po ang experience dahil sa konting oras na inilaan ko po rito ay naging masaya naman po ako. Salamat po sa LPU at sa bumubuo ng programang ito,โ says Nanay Porto from Barangay Buenavista Tres shared her appreciation for the event.
She also expressed her surprise and gratitude after being invited to join the event, โNagpapasalamat ako dahil naimbitahn ako dito ni Konsehal Naneth. Noong una po ay parang ayaw ko pa dahil pinatanong ko po kung para saan iyon, pero hindi naman niya masabi. Pagdating namin dito, nakita ko na โNanayโs Day Outโ pala para sa mga nanay.โ She also reflected on how mothers often prioritize responsibilities over personal care, saying, โHindi mo naman minsan maiisisip yung magpaayos dahil kapag nanay ka, hindi mo na talaga maiisiapn iyon. Ang maiisip mo lagi ay yung trabaho sa bahay pagkatapos ng trabaho.โ
Most of the participants treated Nanayโs Day Out as more than a pampering session; it has also become an opportunity for them to rest, recharge, and feel appreciated.
โNakakatuwa na nabigyan po kami ng ganitong oportunidad na nakasama kami rito. Gustong-gusto ko rin talagang mawala yung stress ko sa bahay. Minsan pagod, kaya ngayon nakalabas naman,โ Nanay Sophia shared her thoughts on the experience, who attended the event together with her grandmother from Barangay Manggahan. She also shared her grandmotherโs excitement for the event and recognized her grandmotherโs dedication as a single mother who had long carried the responsibility of supporting their family.
The event concluded with closing remarks from Engr. Jessa Ornopia, who highlighted the continuous and often unseen efforts of mothers, emphasized that they dedicate themselves around the clock to keep their families united and organized. Through Nanayโs Day Out, mothers were given an opportunity to briefly step away from their daily responsibilities and experience a moment of care, relaxation, and recognition.
Through this initiative, the Lyceum of the Philippines University - Cavite further strengthened its relationship with the communities of Barangays Buenavista and Manngahan through a shared commitment to appreciation and community engagement. The event also became a meaningful learning experience for the student volunteers, reminding them that even simple acts of service can create lasting memories and make a meaningful impact on the community.
