The Education and Languages Department successfully held its Languages and Literatures Culminating Activity on April 30, 2026, bringing together students in a dynamic celebration of expression, creativity, and academic excellence. Anchored on the theme โS.H.I.N.E.: Shaping Horizons: Integrating Narratives and Educational Excellence,โ the event served as a vibrant platform for learners to showcase their linguistic and literary skills across multiple venues, including the Audio-Visual Theater, Mahogany Lobby, Educational Technology Laboratory, and Lemongrass Studio. The simultaneous activities created an immersive environment that highlighted both individual talent and collaborative engagement.
Throughout the day, participants demonstrated their abilities in a variety of competitions and performances designed to test communication, creativity, and critical thinking. Events such as Extemporaneous Speech, Character Portrayal, Masining na Pagkukuwento, and the Stand-Up Cultural Presentation (Foreign Languages Edition) allowed students to explore diverse forms of expression while embracing cultural narratives. Meanwhile, the Technical Writing Challenge emphasized precision and clarity, reinforcing the importance of effective communication in academic and professional contexts.
More than just a showcase of talent, the culminating activity reflected the departmentโs commitment to holistic education by integrating cultural heritage with innovative practices. It underscored the growth of students not only as communicators but also as thinkers and future educators. The United Communicators (UniComm), premier organization of BA Communication students at Lyceum of the Philippines University โ Cavite, successfully held its COMM-UNITY Week 2026, a series of events designed to celebrate creativity, learning, and collaboration within the Communication community. The week officially opened with the 4th Lycean Sinekom Film Festival (LSFF) screenings on April 23 at the Audio-Visual Theater, where student filmmakers showcased music videos, short films, and full-length features alongside guest entries. These screenings highlighted the artistic and technical excellence of communicators, fostering appreciation for visual storytelling while encouraging dialogue and critical engagement among audiences.
Building on this creative momentum, UniComm then staged โThe COMM-ference 2026โ on April 25 at Lemongrass Studio, serving as the academic centerpiece of the week. The event gathered students, and industry professionals in a dynamic platform for knowledge-sharing and media engagement. Featured speakers included alumni Paul Adrian Samarita, the News Desk Officer of News 5, alongside other industry experts, Diego Bandido, Radio Disc Jockey of 90.7 Love Radio Manila, and Howie Severino, a Journalist, Documentarist and Podcaster of GMA News. Through their insights, participants gained valuable perspectives on broadcast, digital media, radio, and performance, bridging classroom knowledge with real-world industry practices and inspiring future communicators to think critically and engage responsibly.
The celebration culminated on April 28 with two significant events: the LSFF Awards Gala in the morning and the COMM-unity Gala in the afternoon. The LSFF Awards Gala honored outstanding films and talents, recognizing excellence in storytelling and production, while promoting meaningful and socially aware narratives. Later that day, the COMM-unity Gala brought together students, faculty, alumni, and guests in a formal gathering that celebrated achievements in academics, leadership, and creative endeavors. As the closing highlight of COMM-UNITY Week 2026, the gala reinforced a strong sense of unity, pride, and purposeโunderscoring the role of communication as a powerful force that connects, inspires, and shapes society.

The BA Communication students of Lyceum of the Philippines University Cavite proudly participated in the Pinoy Media Congress 2026 held on April 29โ30, 2026 at Assumption College San Lorenzo, Makati City. Organized by ABS-CBN in partnership with Philippine Association of Communication Educators (PACE), the two-day gathering brought together aspiring media practitioners, creatives, educators, and future industry leaders from across the country. Recognized as the largest learning event for communication students nationwide, the congress served as a platform for meaningful discussions on the ever-evolving media landscape shaped by digital platforms, streaming, and artificial intelligence.
Throughout the event, students gained valuable insights from esteemed industry professionals, including Jay Bautista, Dia Agoncillo, Alvin Elchico, Robert Mano, Francis Toral, Karmina Constantino Torres, Danie Sedilla โ Cruz, Roxy Liquigan, Jonathan Manalo, Esnyr, Georette Esguerra, Kate Paras โ Santiago, Leo Katigbak, Pia Laurel, Robert Labayen, Paulo Tatad, Mae Cruz Alviar and Marcus Joseph Vinuya. The sessions covered a wide range of topics such as digital media, radio and television journalism, content creation, entertainment production, music, film, advocacy communication, and audience research, bridging classroom knowledge with current industry practices. Program Chair Ms. Mary Grace B. Arroyo also served as one of the session moderators in the event.
More than just a conference, the Pinoy Media Congress 2026 empowered students to stay informed, adaptable, and forward-thinking in a rapidly changing media environment. By engaging with experts and fellow communicators, LPU-Cavite students strengthened their understanding of responsible storytelling and innovative communication. Their participation reflects a strong commitment to growth, excellence, and readiness to become the next generation of media professionals who will inform, inspire, and shape society.

The Social Sciences Culminating Activity, themed โMany Stories, One Shared Humanity: Understanding Diversity in a Connected World,โ was successfully held last April 27, 2026, bringing together students and faculty in a vibrant celebration of knowledge, culture, and human connection. The event opened with inspiring welcome remarks from Dr. Maridette Joyce D. Maranan, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Education, who emphasized the importance of empathy and inclusivity in todayโs increasingly interconnected society. Guided by hosts, Faith Gabrielle Padrelanan and Joliah Barrientos, the program showcased a diverse lineup of activities that highlighted the richness of social sciences and its relevance to real-world issues.
Participants engaged in a variety of academic and creative events across multiple venues, including a character portrayal led by Ms. Joan Bernal, an Ethics Bowl facilitated by Ms. Julia Francine Sumbilla, and a booth design competition organized by Mr. Karl Louise Adrales. The celebration continued with a theatre play directed by Ms. Alyssa Mae Feranil, alongside intellectually stimulating competitions such as The Contemporary World Quiz Bee and JPL Quiz Bee, handled by Ms. Beula Aytona and Mr. Abram Buenconsejo, respectively. The event concluded with closing remarks from Ms. Ma. Angelica Luce, leaving participants with a deeper appreciation of diversity, critical thinking, and the shared human experiences that connect us all.

CLAE Faculty gathered on April 28, 2026, at Lemongrass Studio for the S.M.A.R.T. (Syllabi-Making, Appraising, and Retooling of Teachers) Workshop, carrying the theme โSmart Teaching in Action: Integrating OBE, Curriculum Mapping, and MyLycean in Syllabus Design.โ The workshop aimed to empower faculty members with updated strategies in crafting responsive and outcomes-based syllabi. The Communication Program Chair, Ms. Mary Grace Arroyo, opened the program with inspiring remarks, highlighting the evolving demands of education and the need for adaptive teaching practices. Guiding the participants through the learning sessions was the resource speaker Dr. Maridette Joyce D. Maranan, Dean of CLAE, who shared her expertise on effectively aligning teaching approaches with institutional and program goals.
Session 1 focused on PLO and CILO mapping, strengthening educatorsโ understanding of aligning learning outcomes, while Session 2 introduced MyLycean mapping to support efficient course planning and digital integration. The open forum and workshop proper, facilitated by Ms. Marechris Dellosa, Chair of Psychology, encouraged meaningful discussions and collaboration among participants. Program representatives were also asked to present their outputs during the session.

The spirit of Earth Day 2026 resonated throughout LPU Cavite as ๐๐๐ถ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐น๐ถ๐ธ๐ฎ๐๐ฎ๐ป ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฒ transformed the auditorium into a powerful platform for environmental advocacy through music. Student performers delivered moving renditions that highlighted themes of conservation, climate action, and collective responsibility, reminding the audience of the urgent need to protect the planet. Among the remarkable talents, the College of Liberal Arts and Education (CLAE) proudly secured the Grand Champion title, represented by ๐๐น๐ฟ๐ถ๐ ๐๐ฒ๐
๐ถ ๐ข. ๐ฃ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐, whose performance stood out for its emotional depth and strong connection to the eventโs advocacy.
Alris shared that the competition marked her first time joining a solo contest, making the experience both exciting and nerve-wracking. Although she is accustomed to performing with the LPU Harmonic Chorale, stepping onto the stage alone pushed her beyond her comfort zone. She expressed heartfelt gratitude to CLAE and to โDoc Bubblesโ for her trust and support. Performing Paraiso, a song that deeply resonates with her, Alris delivered a heartfelt performance that reflected both her artistry and her commitment to environmental awarenessโproving that music can be a powerful voice for change.

Conducted both onsite at AVT and online via Zoom, the session provided a dynamic and inclusive learning environment for all participants. Students, grouped into five teams, actively engaged in discussions and scenario-based analyses that highlighted real-world challenges in global interactions. Atty. Polinโs insights enabled participants to better understand the interconnected roles of culture, law, and business in shaping effective global strategies.
The continued success of the lecture series demonstrates its impact in preparing students from the Legal Studies and Foreign Service programs to navigate the demands of an increasingly interconnected and globally driven world.
