Columna Veritatis Reformed Theological Studies

Unbelief is not a divine creation, but the natural and reigning posture of the fallen human heart, inherited from our first parents. In His sovereign providence, God is never the author of sin, but He is the exclusive Author of faith. Out of His mere good pleasure and for the manifestation of His glory, God effectively calls the objects of His mercy—the elect—granting them the gifts of repentance and faith through the regenerating power of the Holy Spirit.

He is under no obligation to extend this grace to any rebel; yet, according to the unsearchable counsel of His own will, He graciously bestows life upon some while justly 'passing by' others. In withholding His softening grace from the non-elect, He leaves them to their own chosen way and the hardness of their hearts, so that His mercy might be magnified in the saved and His justice vindicated in the lost.

A TRIBUTE TO PASTOR ALBERT N. MARTIN (1934–2026)
𝑭𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑪𝒐𝒍𝒖𝒎𝒏𝒂 𝑽𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒔 𝑹𝒆𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒆𝒅 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝑴𝒐𝒅𝒖𝒍𝒂𝒓 𝑺𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒊𝒆𝒔

It is with a mixture of profound sorrow and triumphant hope that Columna Veritatis Reformed Theological Modular Studies acknowledges the homecoming of a true giant of the faith, Pastor Albert N. Martin. Today, he has ceased from his earthly labors to be forever with the Lord whom he served with such unwavering zeal.

Pastor Martin was a remarkable instrument in the hands of God, used to spearhead a thorough Biblical Reformation in our modern era. To those who sat under his ministry, he was a man of holy paradox: thunderous yet gentle, admonishing yet fatherly. He possessed the rare ability to wield the law with piercing precision—exposing man’s twofold problem of a "bad record" and a "bad heart"—only to point with equal fervor to the all-sufficient supply found in Christ’s saving grace.

His legacy is etched into the very foundations of modern pastoral training. Through his exhaustive Pastoral Theology lectures, he defined the sacred weight of the pastoral calling for an entire generation. These labors have equipped hundreds, if not thousands, of under-shepherds across the globe, ensuring that the sheep of Christ’s pasture are fed with truth and led with integrity.

While the world and the visible church will deeply feel the void left by his departure, we rejoice that he is now in a "much better place," beholding the face of his Savior.

𝑪𝒐𝒍𝒖𝒎𝒏𝒂 𝑽𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒔 stands today as a witness to his impact. We publicly commit ourselves to follow the uncompromising path blazed by this faithful man of God. We seek to honor his memory not with mere words, but by continuing to advance the Reformation principles he so dearly loved, until we too join him before the throne to receive the eternal crown of righteousness.
