General Trias City Commemorates 128th Philippine Independence Day
The City Government of General Trias, led by City Mayor Luis "Jon-Jon" A. Ferrer IV, spearheaded the formal commemoration of the 128th Philippine Independence Day today, June 12, 2026. Gathering local officials, historical groups, and civic leaders, the solemn event honored the city's monumental contributions to the nation’s freedom.
A key highlight of the civic program was an insightful historical recollection shared by Schools Division Superintendent (SDS) Ivan Brian L. Inductivo, CESO VI. Speaking to an audience of local educators, government employees, and youth participants, SDS Inductivo spotlighted the deep intertwining of Department of Education (DepEd) history and the heritage of General Trias—formerly known as San Francisco de Malabon.
"Our mission as educators goes beyond textbooks; it is about anchoring our youth to the exact ground where freedom was fought for," SDS Inductivo stated. He brought history to life by vividly recounting the events of Pasong Kalabaw (now Barangay Santa Clara), where local Katipuneros led by General Mariano Trias, Diego Mojica, and Nicolas Portilla launched the First Cry of Cavite on August 31, 1896. He challenged the academic community to keep the spirit of Pasong Kalabaw alive by fostering localized historical appreciation in every classroom.
The formal ceremonies concluded with a symbolic wreath-laying at the monuments of General Mariano Trias and Dr. Jose Rizal led by Mayor Luis 'Jon- Jon' Ferrer, Vice Mayor Jonas Labuguen and all other LGU officials. Attendees to the said event were SDO General Trias City led by SDS Ivan Brian Inductivo, CESO VI, ASDS Rogin Contemprato, CESE, CID Chief Eduarda Zapanta, SGOD Chief Ines Inocencio, supervisors and school heads.
