The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics will release the July Producer Price Index tonight, August 13, at 8:30 PM PHT.
Headline PPI is forecast to rise 0.2% month on month after declining 0.3% previously. Annual producer inflation is expected to ease to 4.9% from 5.5%, while Core PPI is forecast at 0.3% versus 0.2% previously.
PPI measures changes in the prices received by producers for their output. Institutions will assess whether price pressures at the production level support or challenge yesterdayโs cooling CPI signal.
A hotter than expected report may strengthen hawkish Fed expectations, support the USD and Treasury yields, and pressure Gold. A cooler report may weaken the USD and yields while supporting XAUUSD.
U.S. unemployment claims will also be released at the same time, kaya conflicting results may create two-way volatility.
