𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗺𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝗼𝗹𝗱: 𝗥𝗠𝗠𝗖-𝗖𝗔𝗦 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝟲𝟳 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀

The halls of Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges' College of Arts and Sciences in General Santos City are buzzing with a special kind of joy this season, the kind that comes only once, when years of sleepless nights, mock board exams, and quiet prayers finally turn into a license and a title long dreamed of: 𝘙𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘚𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘦𝘳. 𝗦𝗶𝘅𝘁𝘆 𝘀𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀, sixty seven stories of sacrifice, resilience, and unwavering faith in the calling to serve others, is how many RMMC CAS examinees passed the recent Social Work Licensure Examination (SWLE), a number that speaks volumes not just about individual grit, but about the strength of the program that shaped them.

The results paint an even brighter picture. Against the SWLE national passing rate of 𝟳𝟲.𝟮𝟳%, RMMC GenSan posted an impressive 𝟵𝟬.𝟱𝟰%, proof that the training received within these halls holds its own, and then some, against the rest of the country. Even more striking is the performance of first time takers, who posted a remarkable 𝟵𝟲.𝟯𝟲% passing rate, with 53 out of 55 examinees passing on their very first attempt. Behind every statistic is a face familiar to the campus: the working student who reviewed between shifts, the scholar who carried the weight of family expectations, the quiet achiever who never missed a review session. For the College of Arts and Sciences, this isn't just an academic milestone, it's a homecoming of sorts, a moment where professors, deans, and classmates alike get to say, with full hearts, "We knew you could do it."

Social work is not a profession chosen for glamour or ease. It is chosen by those willing to sit with other people's pain, advocate for the voiceless, and rebuild broken systems one case, one family, one community at a time. To the newest members of the profession: 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. The title before your name is more than an academic achievement; it is a promise you've made to serve with compassion and integrity. The whole CAS family stands proud of you, and cheers you on as you step into the field ready to make a difference.

𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄 | 𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝑰𝒇 𝑨𝒍𝒎𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝑾𝒂𝒔𝒏’𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑬𝒏𝒅?

“𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐟?”

Sometimes, two words are enough to take us back—to the answer we changed, the moment we doubted, or the possibility that could have changed everything.

For Dannie Morata Jr., those two words became part of his story after taking the Social Work Licensure Examination (SWLE).

He entered the journey with a dream bigger than simply passing. He wanted to aim for the top. So he locked in—deactivated his social media, chose discipline over comfort, and gave everything he had to a dream he had carried for so long.

There were anxious nights, exhausting days, pressure, sacrifices, and moments when he wondered if he could still keep going.

But he did.

Then came the result.

And with it came that familiar question:

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙛 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙬𝙤 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙝𝙖𝙙 𝙗𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩?

Maybe those answers could have changed the outcome. Maybe they could have brought him closer to the top.

But instead of allowing that thought to overshadow everything he had gone through, Dannie chose to look at what remained: the fact that he had fought for his dream until the very end.

He gave his all. He persevered through exhaustion, prayed through uncertainty, and when the outcome was no longer in his hands, he placed it in God’s hands.

Along the way, he also remembered the people who helped him through the journey—teachers who prayed for him, friends who made the difficult days a little lighter, and loved ones who made every sacrifice worth it.

And perhaps that is what makes his story more than just a story about an examination result.

It is easy to measure a journey by how it ends. We look at the result, the ranking, the number, and wonder if we could have done more.

But sometimes, the more important question is simpler:

𝘿𝙞𝙙 𝙬𝙚 𝙜𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙞𝙩 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙬𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙙?

Dannie did.

Of course, the “what ifs” may still be there. They probably will be for a while.

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙛 𝙄 𝙝𝙖𝙙 𝙜𝙤𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙬𝙚𝙧 𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩?
𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙝𝙖𝙙 𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙮 𝙄 𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙙?

We will all have questions like these at some point.

But the danger is not in asking “what if.”

The danger is allowing it to convince us that the story is already over.

Because “what if” can also look forward.

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙤𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙬𝙖𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜?
𝘼𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙙𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙢 𝙩𝙤 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙨𝙚?
𝘼𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙨 𝙮𝙚𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙪𝙣𝙛𝙤𝙡𝙙?

Just like Dannie, we may carry our own what ifs. Some answers may remain unanswered, and some outcomes may not turn out the way we hoped.

But that does not mean the journey has lost its meaning.

Sometimes, “what if” is not a question of regret.

Sometimes, it is a reminder that there is still something ahead of us.

And sometimes, the bravest thing we can do is simply keep going.

For the children of Barangay Tinoto, the journey of learning begins at an early age. Yet, the community continues to face challenges that can affect this journey. There are several out-of-school youth in the barangay, including young people who are unable to continue their education as they reach secondary and tertiary levels. While this concern happens later in life, it also reminds us of the importance of giving attention to children from the very beginning of their education.

The daycare center provides a vital foundation where children build basic skills and experience school for the first time. Supporting them at this stage requires meeting both their educational and physical needs, as a hungry child cannot learn efficiently. With that, proper food and nourishment are just as critical to their long-term development as the books, toys, and learning materials prepared for them.

With this in mind, the 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸 (𝗕𝗦𝗦𝗪), 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸 (𝗠𝗣𝗟𝗦𝗪), organized “𝑳𝒊𝒕𝒕𝒍𝒆 𝑮𝒊𝒇𝒕𝒔, 𝑩𝒊𝒈 𝑺𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒆𝒔” for the children of Purok 5 Daycare Center and Barangay Tinoto Daycare Center. BSSW students shared donations, while partners also extended their support for the feeding activity, storybooks, toys, and other materials.

𝑶𝒏 𝑺𝒆𝒑𝒕𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓 𝟏𝟔, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, the BSSW faculty conducted the outreach and brought these contributions to the two daycare centers. The children received storybooks and toys, while the daycare centers were also provided with storybooks that they could continue using for learning.

For some, these may seem like small things. But for a child who may not always have the means to afford a new book, a toy, or even a meal, these simple gifts can mean something more. They provide an opportunity to learn, to play, and to experience the joy of being cared for.

The activity was made possible through the support of the community and its partners. We sincerely thank Hon. Abdul M. Wahani, Barangay Captain, the Barangay Council of Tinoto, Hon. Norham Maulani Kudarat, Hon. Nancy Chua, and the barangay officials who were present. We also extend our appreciation to Hon. Eustaquio Mamites, Purok 5 Chairman, for providing the venue, and to Ma’am Rebecca Ganton, Teacher of Purok 5 Daycare Center, and Patricia Mamites, Teacher of Barangay Tinoto Daycare Center, for their support. Our heartfelt thanks also go to Spag-Asa Feeding, Supreme Generals Lady Eagles Club, and Kiwanis Club for NextGen Leaders for their generous contributions.

Little Gifts, Big Smiles is a reminder that a child’s lifelong learning journey starts somewhere. Sometimes, it starts with a daycare center, a caring teacher, a nourishing meal, a storybook, or a small gift placed in a child’s hands. And when we choose to invest in these little beginnings, we also help make space for bigger dreams.

The Social Work Day of 𝐂𝐀𝐒𝐀𝐃𝐘𝐀 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 was filled with fun, laughter, excitement, and meaningful moments as students came together for another memorable day! 💙✨

Throughout the event, students enjoyed different games and activities that brought smiles, laughter, and positive energy to everyone. Each game gave us the chance to have fun, show our teamwork, and enjoy the company of our fellow social work students. 🎉🤝

The events helped us to have a great time but were also focused on teamwork and cooperation. Everyone was provided with the opportunity to take part in activities, communicate and support each other. 💙

A very special moment in our day came in the form of a prayer we offered for our seniors preparing for the Social Work Licensure Exam. 🙏✨

This gave us the chance to come together and pray for our seniors and ask the Almighty god for guidance, strength, wisdom, and blessings for them.

A new chapter begins for Batch Tinguha as our Social Work Interns officially start their field deployment. 💙

This is an important step in their journey as future social workers. It gives them the opportunity to apply what they have learned, gain real-life experience, develop their skills, and learn more through service.
