The Junior Information Technology Society (JITS), represented by Hon. John Lloyd Orillano, Hon. Krisha Ashanti Caasi, and Hon. Justine Dave Catolico, joined the Organization of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Students (OMANSS) in the International Coastal Cleanup 2026 held on September 19, 2026, at Purok Zone 6, Barangay Bula, General Santos City.

With gloves on and hands at work, student leaders came together to help clear the coastline and contribute to a cleaner, healthier marine environment. The activity served as a reminder that student leadership goes beyond organizational workโ€”it is also about showing up, taking responsibility, and lending a hand to the community.

But what does software freedom really mean for us, the ๐“๐ž๐ค๐ค๐ข๐ฌ? ๐Ÿ‘€

It means learning, creating, sharing, and contributing without being limited by closed systems. FOSS gives us the freedom to study how software works, modify it, share it, and build on the work of others.

As future IT professionals, we can be part of this movement by:

At the MSUSAA Unity Games 2026, held at Mindanao State Universityโ€“Marawi, student-athletes from different colleges and departments came together under one university bannerโ€”among them, five Tekkis from the Junior Information Technology Society (JITS).
