Our first flag ceremony at H.N Cahilsot Central Elementary School marked the beginning of another school year filled with hope and enthusiasm. Learners, teachers, parents, and stakeholders came together to welcome a new chapter in education.
However, the day also became memorable as we experienced a strong 7.8 earthquake. In response, classes remain suspended while authorities continue to assess the situation and ensure everyone's safety.
We are grateful that our learners, personnel, and community members are safe. As we await further announcements, let us continue to pray for the safety of all affected families and communities.

Urgent Meeting Held at HNCCES to Discuss Alternative Learning Delivery After Earthquake
An urgent meeting was convened at HN Cahilsot Central Elementary School last Thursday, June 11, 2026, to deliberate on alternative learning delivery modalities following the June 8 earthquake.
The session focused on the shift in instructional strategies that the school will implement as an alternative to regular scheduled classes, ensuring that education continues despite the disruption caused by the calamity.
The meeting was presided by School Principal Rowena M. Acana, together with Assistant Principal Kerr G. Barselote, and was attended by the Department Heads, Master Teachers, and Grade Level Chairpersons.
Discussions centered on identifying practical and safe approaches to sustain learning while prioritizing the welfare of both learners and teachers. The collaborative effort highlighted the school’s commitment to resilience and continuity in education during emergencies.

Another Safety Assessment Carried Out After June 8 Quake
Following the June 8 earthquake in General Santos City, engineers revisited HN Cahilsot Central Elementary School on June 12, 2026, to evaluate the condition and safety of its facilities
The inspection team was led by Engr. Antonio Quizon Jr. of the DepEd Central Office Educational Facilities Division (EFD) and Engr. Patrick L. Panes from Regional Office XII. Their visit aimed to ensure the protection of learners and teachers by thoroughly checking the school’s structures.
Assisting the inspection were Rowena M. Acana, School Principal; Nelda L. Ausad, School-Based DRRM Coordinator; and Corazon Z. Dela Cruz, Administrative Officer II.
While several classrooms were declared structurally safe, the school emphasized that these rooms will remain closed until repairs and retrofitting are fully completed to guarantee long-term safety.
This inspection forms part of the continuing efforts of DepEd and partner agencies to safeguard the school community and maintain readiness in the aftermath of natural disasters.

DPWH CONDUCTS FURTHER STRUCTURAL INSPECTION AT HN CAHILSOT CENTRAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
A specialized team of engineers from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Central Office conducted a comprehensive structural inspection of all facilities at HN Cahilsot Central Elementary School yesterday, June 10, 2026.
The evaluation was carried out to further assess and guarantee the structural integrity of the campus classrooms, ensuring a safe learning environment for both students and staff.
To facilitate a thorough assessment, the DPWH engineering team was closely assisted by the school’s administration, led by School Principal Rowena M. Acana and Administrative Assistant II (ADAS II) Corazon Z. Dela Cruz. The school officials guided the engineers through the various campus structures, providing necessary building history and operational context.
This inspection marks another proactive step in ongoing efforts to evaluate and reinforce the safety of local educational facilities against potential structural hazards. School authorities and the DPWH are expected to review the engineers' findings to determine if any structural retrofitting or repairs are required moving forward.

Engineering Team Inspects HN Cahilsot Central Elementary School After 7.8 Magnitude Earthquake
General Santos City, June 9, 2026 — An engineering team visited HN Cahilsot Central Elementary School on Tuesday to assess structural damages caused by the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck the city on Monday.
The inspection team was led by Engr. Leonardo Llanos of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Engr. Everlindo Limen of the SDO-General Santos Educational Facilities Section, Engr. Elgene O. Dequilla from the Regional Office, and Engr. Levi Tatad, Area Manager of the DepEd Central Office Educational Facilities Division.
The group carefully examined damaged classrooms and perimeter fences to determine the extent of the impact. Assisting the inspection were Rowena M. Acana, School Principal, and Nelda L. Ausad, School-Based DRRM Coordinator.
The visit forms part of the ongoing safety evaluation to ensure that learners and staff are protected before classes resume. Findings from the inspection will guide the school’s next steps in implementing continuity measures and alternative learning modalities while rehabilitation plans are underway.

With the opening of classes tomorrow, June 8, 2026, HNCCES continues to strengthen the preparations through the collective efforts of stakeholders and community volunteers under Brigada Eskwela 2026.
As the first day of school approaches, the school has intensified its cleaning and maintenance activities to ensure that learners will return to a safe, clean, and welcoming learning environment.
Among the school's valued partners is the TUPAD-MPR volunteers, whose workers have been assisting in the cleaning and clearing of school grounds and classrooms for twenty (20) days, their dedication and hard work have played a significant role in enhancing the school's readiness for the opening of classes.
Likewise, beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) demonstrated the true spirit of bayanihan by conducting a cleanup drive in the Grade 3 area, Grade 6 area, and school covered court in which their volunteer efforts helped ensure that key learning and activity spaces are prepared for the arrival of learners.

HNCCES continues to receive overwhelming support from its valued stakeholders as part of the ongoing Brigada Eskwela 2026 campaign. Through their generous donations and commitment to education, these partners have significantly contributed to the school's preparations for the opening of classes for School Year 2026–2027.
Among the school's generous supporters is Tagum Cooperative, which donated four (4) gallons of paint to support the school's repair, improvement, and beautification initiatives.
Another significant contribution came from Makilala Multi-Purpose Cooperative (KMPC), which donated sixteen (16) sacks of cement -- these materials will be used for various repair and improvement projects aimed at creating a safer and more conducive learning environment for learners.
Through the partnership between the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) City Link and King Multi-Purpose Cooperative, the school also received one hundred fifty (150) sets of school supplies intended for Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries. thus, making meaningful donation that will help support learners and their families as they prepare for the new school year.
Further strengthening the school's communication and security efforts, RTX Electronic Trading and Services donated five (5) sets of handheld radios with short-range frequency capability -- these devices will help improve coordination during school activities and emergency situations.
Meanwhile, General Santos City Water District (GSCWD) extended its support by donating two (2) gallons of epoxy primer with hardener. These materials will be used in the maintenance and protection of school facilities.
Adding to the growing list of supporters, McDonald's Philippines – Calumpang Branch donated welcome banners and signages to help create a warm and inviting atmosphere for learners, parents, and stakeholders as they return to school. These materials will also support the school's information and orientation activities during the enrollment period and opening of classes.
Completing the list of generous donors is BMD Hardware, which donated four (4) gallons of white latex paint to assist in the school's renovation and beautification activities.
These contributions demonstrate the strong partnership between HNCCES and its stakeholders, all working together to ensure that learners return to a safe, clean, and welcoming learning environment.

In preparation for the opening of classes for School Year 2026–2027, all teaching personnel convened for a faculty meeting held at 2:00 p.m. at the school gym. The meeting highlighted the importance of ensuring that all teachers are informed, prepared, and aligned with the school’s plans, priorities, and expectations. It served as a platform for collaboration and strengthened coordination among educators as the institution readies itself to welcome learners for another academic year.
Ma’am Rowena M. Acana, Principal II, led the meeting, closely monitoring the school’s readiness and emphasizing the shared responsibility of teachers in delivering quality education. The meeting concluded with other matters, followed by clear agreements and action points to guide teachers in their respective roles.
