Pacific Southbay College, Inc. (PSCI) proudly made its first-ever participation at the 51st NASWEI Biennial Convention 2025, held from November 26 to 28, 2025 in Iloilo City. The three-day event brought together social work educators, student leaders, and practitioners from across the Philippines to discuss innovations in social work education under the theme “𝘙𝘦𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘚𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘌𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯: 𝘐𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘢𝘯 𝘐𝘯𝘤𝘭𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘷𝘦, 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘚𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘍𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦.”

As part of the celebration, the Junior Social Workers’ Association of the Philippines (JSWAP) National Conference convened student leaders to share experiences, strategies, and collaborative ideas for advancing social work education. Representing PSCI at both the NASWEI Convention and JSWAP activities is Chloe C. Plaga, a first-year Bachelor of Science in Social Work student and President of the PSCI Chapter of JSWAP. Plaga actively participated in plenary sessions, workshops, and dialogues, enhancing her leadership skills and gaining a broader understanding of the social work profession.

Reflecting on the experience, Plaga stated, “𝘽𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙧𝙚𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙋𝙖𝙘𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙘 𝙎𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙝𝙗𝙖𝙮 𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙜𝙚 𝙖𝙩 𝙖 𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙨𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙝𝙤𝙣𝙤𝙧. The PSCI delegation also included Dr. Loveleih G. Quemado, RSW, MSSW, MAED, BSSW Program Dean, and Candy Navales, RSW, whose active involvement highlighted the college’s commitment to establishing a Social Work program that meets national standards and embraces global perspectives.

PSCI’s participation in the NASWEI Biennial Convention underscores the institution’s dedication to cultivating social workers who are compassionate, innovative, and community-focused. The event provided a platform for professional engagement, leadership development, and exposure to best practices in social work education, marking a significant milestone for the college’s newly launched BSSW program.

Pacific Southbay College, Inc. successfully held the Good Manners and Decorum Seminar 2025 on December 3, 2025, at the PSCI Gymnasium, gathering students from various departments for a meaningful discussion on values essential in today’s fast-changing society. The event was organized by the Bachelor of Science in Social Work in coordination with the JSWAP PSCI Chapter. With the theme “𝘊𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵, 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘨𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘋𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘪𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘯 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥,” the seminar brought together selected students from various programs—including BSA, BSMA, BSOA, BSCrim, BSSW, BSTM, BECEd, and BPED—to deepen their understanding of proper conduct and responsible behavior.

The program opened with a warm welcome message from Johari Macabangin, RSW, JSWAP Moderator, who emphasized the need for students to embody strong values as part of their development both in school and in their future professions. This was followed by a Message of Support from Sir Kenneth D. Claudio, MBM, Vice-President for Academics, who highlighted the importance of ethical behavior, respect, and discipline in shaping students into competent and responsible professionals.

The main highlight of the event was the lecture delivered by Dr. Loveleih G. Quemado, RSW, MSSW, MAEd, BSSW Program Dean. Her talk on Good Manners and Right Conduct (GMRC) emphasized the importance of respect, self-discipline, and integrity in both face-to-face and digital interactions. She also discussed real-life scenarios where values and proper behavior play a crucial role in fostering positive relationships and a healthy environment in school and future workplaces.

After the discussion, students participated in an open forum where concerns and questions regarding behavior, values formation, and responsible conduct were addressed. The exchange encouraged students to reflect on their actions and understand their role in promoting a respectful campus culture. The program concluded with the awarding of certificates and a closing remarks.

The Good Manners and Decorum Seminar 2025, organized by the BSSW Program, stands as a continuing effort of PSCI to empower its learners not only academically but also morally—shaping them into disciplined, respectful, and value-driven individuals prepared to face the challenges of the modern world.

𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐚, a first-year Bachelor of Science in Social Work student and President of the 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬’ 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 – 𝐏𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐛𝐚𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞, 𝐈𝐧𝐜. 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫. As the first student leader to carry the name of Pacific Southbay College, Inc. to a national Social Work convention, she participated in plenary sessions, dialogues, and collaborative discussions that strengthened her leadership and broadened her understanding of the profession.

The delegation was further strengthened by the presence of the Bachelor of Science in Social Work Faculty, led by BSSW Program Dean 𝐃𝐫. 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐡 𝐆. 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐨, 𝐑𝐒𝐒𝐖, 𝐌𝐒𝐒𝐖, 𝐌𝐀𝐄𝐃, together with 𝐌𝐬. 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐲 𝐍𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬, 𝐑𝐒𝐖. Their active engagement in the National Association for Social Work Education, Inc. Biennial Convention reaffirmed the institution's commitment to building a strong, ethical, and forward-looking Social Work program that aligns with national standards and global perspectives.

This participation—during the very first year of the program—symbolizes Pacific Southbay College, Inc.’s dedication to nurturing future social workers who embody compassion, innovation, and service rooted in community upliftment. It marks the beginning of a stronger, more empowered, and purpose-driven Social Work department.

Experiences like these deepen our resolve to learn, lead, and serve with integrity. They open doors for meaningful connections, inspiring conversations, and a renewed passion for building a more just and compassionate society.

𝐒𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐎𝐋 𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄 | Pacific Southbay College, Inc. proudly joined the Launching Program of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) held on November 24, 2025, at the KCC Convention Center, General Santos City. The event, themed “UNITED for a VAW-Free Philippines,” gathered various institutions in a united stand to raise awareness, strengthen advocacy, and affirm commitment to protecting the rights and welfare of women across the nation.

By participating in this nationwide campaign, PSCI reinforces its dedication to fostering safe, empowering, and violence-free spaces for all women and girls in the community.
