This qualitative study investigates the case management process of Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL) in General Santos City, examining agency functions, challenges, and the narratives of reformed CICLs. Using Merton’s Structural Functionalism, the research shows how agencies function as interconnected parts of a system designed to maintain order, while also revealing latent functions and dysfunctions shaped by institutional constraints.

The study highlights the importance of rescue, rehabilitation, reintegration, and community-based aftercare programs in restoring peace, healing, and reconciliation, while recognizing the central role of self-determination and hope in the transformation of CICLs.

This contribution advances scholarly discussions on child rights, justice, and social welfare, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and strengthens the global academic footprint of MSU-Gensan through relevant and impactful research.

Prof. Lolymar Jacinto-Reyes, PhD, has been designated as the new Assistant Dean of the College of Social Sciences and Humanities. This designation, which is effective immediately, was made through Special Order No. 1069-25C by University Chancellor Atty. Shidik T. Abantas, MDM, LLM, to streamline operations and enhance leadership within the college.

In accordance with this, we welcome Prof. Jacinto-Reyes as our new Assistant Dean, who will support the College Dean in overseeing administrative and academic affairs, research initiatives, student services, and external relations. We look forward to her leadership and the valuable contributions she will bring to the college.
