𝐆𝐏𝐄 𝐀𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐲 𝐆𝐫𝐀𝐒𝐏 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 “𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞”

The Graduate Program in Education of Mindanao State University – General Santos City successfully conducted the community extension program titled “𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲: 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗨𝗻𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝘂𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲” at DepEd RXII Datal Salvan High School. Spearheaded by the MAED Reading students and program implementors, the activity strengthened collaborative engagement among educators, parents, and community stakeholders in promoting literacy development and practical reading strategies that can be applied at home to improve learners’ decoding and comprehension skills.

Through interactive discussions and meaningful learning activities, the extension program reflected the 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗶𝗻 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻’𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗰𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. The implementors also expressed their heartfelt appreciation to the school administrators, teachers, parents, and community partners for their active participation and unwavering support, which greatly contributed to the success of the initiative and the shared mission of developing confident and capable readers. Special thanks were also extended to 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗮 𝗥. 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗮, 𝗠𝗔, 𝗠𝗜𝗘, for her guidance, leadership, and unwavering support in the successful implementation of the activity.

General Santos City - In an intensifying effort to boost scientific literacy among junior high school students, Mindanao State University-General Santos City graduate students from the SE252 course successfully launched Project COSMOS (Cosmic Origin Studies through Modern Observation and Simulation) at Policarpio H. Millona Central Integrated School ICT laboratory last March 13.
The activity brought together 34 Grade 10 students, the course adviser, the school faculty and administration, and the graduate student facilitators. The project centered on enhancing scientific understanding of cosmic origin through interactive discussion and the proper use of virtual reality for learning. It also aimed to spark interest in science and technology while fostering meaningful partnerships among educational stakeholders.

Key highlights of the event were the interactive discussion on cosmic origin, the workshop on the proper use of virtual reality, and the turnover of virtual reality tools. These activities reflect the strong commitment of graduate students, the university, and partner schools to address educational gaps in Science through strengthened partnerships.

As an academic extension program under the SE252 Earth Science for Teachers course, Project COSMOS aligns with the Graduate Action for Service and Partnership (GRASP) of the Mindanao State University-Graduate Program in Education, which underscores the key role of academic institutions, educators, and stakeholder partnerships in addressing educational challenges and improving the quality of education and scientific literacy, which are critical in nation-building.
