UST General Santos honors the remarkable legacy of Academician Professor Emeritus Maribel G. Nonato, PhD, widely hailed as the country’s “Pandan Queen” for her pioneering work on pandan species and her discovery of new alkaloids that continue to inspire scientific inquiry and possible applications in various fields.
An acclaimed chemist, prolific researcher, and respected Thomasian administrator, Prof. Emeritus Nonato served as the first Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation of the University of Santo Tomas. Her leadership and expertise also formed part of the historic journey that led to the planning and inauguration of the UST General Santos branch campus, a milestone that brought the enduring Thomasian tradition of excellence, research, and service to Mindanao.

UST General Santos marked its 2nd Founding Anniversary with a meaningful expression of service through the Community Development initiatives of its different schools, in collaboration with the Office of the Associate Vice-Rector for Religious Affairs through its Community Development Department.
Guided by the anniversary theme “USTogether,” the School of Health Sciences, the School of Engineering and Information Technology, and the School of Business and Accountancy brought the Thomasian mission beyond the campus through programs that responded to the needs of partner communities. These included a voluntary blood donation drive in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross General Santos City–Sarangani Province Chapter, a medical mission for the senior citizens of Barangay Ligaya, a follow-up seminar on vertical farming techniques for the residents of Barangay Tinagacan, and a community development program held at the TESDA Training Center in General Santos City.
Through these initiatives, academic staff, support staff, students, volunteers, partners, and community members came together in the shared spirit of service, compassion, and solidarity. Each activity became a testament to the institution’s commitment to form Thomasians who do not only pursue academic excellence, but also place their knowledge, skills, and values at the service of others.
As UST General Santos continues to grow, it also strengthens its mission to build communities through programs rooted in competence, commitment, and compassion. In service and togetherness, the Thomasian community gives life to a founding anniversary celebration made more meaningful by the people it serves.

Made even more significant by the 80th founding anniversary of the UST College of Nursing this 2026, the visit became a graceful reminder of a legacy shaped by generations of excellence, service, and compassionate care. As the college held its team-building engagement in South Cotabato, its presence at UST General Santos carried the warmth of connection and the promise of continued collaboration within the wider Thomasian community.
In this encounter, UST General Santos joined the UST College of Nursing in honoring eight decades of forming competent, committed, and compassionate Thomasian nurses whose excellence continues to make an impact in the country and abroad.
It was a moment of gratitude and remembrance, a celebration of shared roots and renewed purpose, and a testament to the enduring mark of Thomasian education in the service of humanity.

MABUHAY, INA’N MARIA!
MABUHAY, APO BAKET!
MABUHAY, INA NG MANAOAG!
The friars of the Dominican Province of the Philippines celebrates the Centennial Celebration of the Canonical Coronation of the miraculous image of Our Lady of the Rosary of Manaoag, Pangasinan - a hundred years of grace, devotion, and maternal protection.
One hundred years ago, through the authority of the Holy See and the loving faith of countless devotees, the image of our Blessed Mother was solemnly crowned as Queen and Mother of her faithful children. Generations of pilgrims have journeyed to her shrine in Manaoag seeking comfort, healing, guidance, thanksgiving, and hope.
This centennial celebration is not only a remembrance of a historic event, but a joyful proclamation that the love of Mary continues to reign in the hearts of her people. She remains the compassionate Mother who calls her children closer to Christ, her Son.
From every province, parish, and family devoted to her holy name, we raise our voices in gratitude for the blessings received through the years. In times of trial and triumph, she has been a refuge and intercessor for the Filipino faithful and for all who come to her sacred home.
As we honor this milestone, may we renew our devotion to the Holy Rosary, deepen our faith in Her Son, Jesus Christ, and imitate the humility, obedience, and charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
MABUHAY ANG REYNA NG MANAOAG!
