𝐓𝐈𝐃𝐄𝐒 𝐎𝐅 𝐔𝐃𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄 | 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐒𝐨𝐱 𝐒𝐲𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐮𝐦: 𝐅𝐈𝐏𝐒𝐎 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐬

The 𝗙𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀' 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗙𝗜𝗣𝗦𝗢) actively participated in this momentous event! Yesterday, May 27, 2026, the 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗦𝗼𝘅 𝗦𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘂𝗺 successfully took place at the Greenleaf Hotel, General Santos City, bringing together scientists, policymakers, and advocates for ocean conservation and sustainable tourism in Region XII.

The morning session kicked off with an inspiring opening message from Engr. Armin H. Hautea (Assistant Regional Director, Department of Tourism Region XII), followed by a meaningful presentation on the symposium rationale and Ocean Month celebration by Ma'am Joy C. Ologuin (PENRO Sarangani). We also gained valuable insights into local marine ecosystems with a Sarangani Bay exploratory dive assessment by Sir Alex A. Santos (Owner, Managing Director, and CEO of Philippine Technical Divers - PHILTECH), and learned about national preservation initiatives through "Dive Philippines Waters: Awareness, Programs, and Protection" presented by Sir Ed Marco Angelo J. Ancheta (Executive Director of the Philippine Commission on Sports Scuba Diving).

The momentum carried into the afternoon with highly distinguished guest speakers: Sir Deo Florence L. Onda, PhD (Research Professor and UP Scientist III from the Marine Science Institute, UP Diliman) and Ma'am Jurgenne H. Primavera, PhD (Chief Mangrove Scientific Advisor of the Zoological Society of London - ZSL), who shed light on the vital role of mangroves and beach forests in coastal resilience, livelihoods, culture, and history.

Gaining deeper perspectives on marine conservation through this event will undoubtedly enrich our journey as future fisheries professionals.
