A meaningful day at the MSU–Gensan Museum of Cultural History and Arts as we welcomed Dr. Patricio N. Abinales, Emeritus Professor from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. His visit brought life to our shared histories and cultural narratives, sparking insightful conversations and a deeper appreciation of our heritage.

JUST IN: Master of Arts in Education major in Social Studies students from West Visayas State University visited the MSU–Gensan Museum of Cultural History and Arts.
Composed of 48 participants the group explored the museum’s rich exhibits, historical collections, and heritage preservation initiatives. The visit provided valuable insights into local history, public history practices, and the vital role of museums in cultural education and heritage conservation.

JUST IN: Dr. Wataru Kusaka, a Professor of Graduate School of Global Studies, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies visited the MSU Gensan Museum of Cultural History and the Arts.
His visit marks a meaningful step toward fostering academic collaboration and celebrating the shared value of cultural history and the arts across borders.

Today, the Museum of Cultural History and the Arts officially opened an exhibit, "Habing Kabilin" (Woven Heritage), at the MSU-Gensan Library Lobby!
In celebration of National Arts Month, we are honoring the "Warp Ikat Tradition of Mindanao" curated by Mr. Leonardo Rey S. Cariño featuring the works of The Manilikha ng Bayan Lang Dulay and Barbara Ofong (both are Tboli Tnalak weavers) , Yabing Masalon Dulo (Blaan Mabal Tabih weaver), and Samporonia Madanlo (Mandaya Dagmay weaver).
The exhibit will run from February 13 – 26, 2026.

LOOK: Japanese Scholars Visit the Museum of Cultural History and the Arts at MSU–General Santos
On February 6, 2026, Dr. Masao Imamura of Yamagata University and Dr. Masako Ishii of Rikkyo University paid a visit to the Museum of Cultural History and the Arts at Mindanao State University–General Santos. The scholars were introduced to the museum’s Tri-People concept during a guided tour led by Mr. Halim Tabi and Mr. Jimjay Balandan (museum staff).

LOOK: Students from the University of the Philippines Mindanao
On November 22, 2025, students from the@ Mindanao Studies program of the University of the Philippines Mindanao visited the Museum of Cultural History and the Arts at Mindanao State University–General Santos as part of their educational field trip. They were accompanied by their advisers, Professors Edward Estrera and Malaya Lapina, who guided and supervised the students throughout the activity.
The purpose of the field trip was to deepen the students’ understanding of Mindanao’s rich cultural heritage and to expose them to the diverse traditions, histories, and artistic expressions found across the region.

LOOK : DOST XI Teams Up with MSU-Gensan to Strengthen Indigenous Heritage Preservation
On November 7, 2025, The Department of Science and Technology Region XI (DOST XI) is set to visit the Museum of Cultural History and The Arts at Mindanao State University – General Santos City as part of its efforts to support the preservation and promotion of indigenous cultural heritage in Davao del Sur.
The visit aims to gather insights and learn best practices from the MSU-Gensan Cultural Museum, particularly in the areas of cultural preservation, museum curation, exhibition management, and documentation of indigenous knowledge.
