𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞, 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞, 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞: 𝐒𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫-𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 𝐨𝐧 𝐄𝐱𝐡𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐮𝐦 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

An initiative designed to strengthen community involvement in heritage preservation.

The 4th Year Public History Track students will conduct a seminar-workshop for the upcoming Barangay Fatima Museum tomorrow, December 10, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Barangay Fatima Session Hall.

This event recognizes the importance of empowering communities to manage and safeguard their cultural heritage, guiding participants through the fundamentals of exhibit conceptualization and curation for the envisioned Barangay Fatima Museum.

The History Department of MSU-General Santos City proudly announces the participation of its faculty members at the 8th International Conference of the International Council for Historical and Cultural Cooperation–Southeast Asia (ICHCC-SEA) and the 2025 Philippine Historical Association (PHA) Annual Conference, held on September 18–20, 2025, at the National Library of the Philippines and the National Historical Commission of the Philippines.

With the theme “Kasaysayan, Sejarah: Research and Teaching Southeast Asian Histories in the Face of New Historiographies,” this event served as a platform to share research, engage with new historiographies, and bring Mindananaon voices within broader Southeast Asian historical discourses.

Representing MSU-General Santos, three faculty members presented their diverse research on culture, migration, and local histories:

✨ Cris Hannibal P. Non – The Heron’s Flight Towards Continuum: The History of South Cotabato and Its Vicinities during the 1880s to 1905
✨ Joshua Philip D. Castillo – Narrating Dispossession, Rewriting Survival: Historiographic Reflections on Settler Colonial Mindanao

The Department of History through its Pamanang Mindanao, a National Heritage Month celebration activity handed over the donations last May 16, 2025 for the residents affected by fire insident at Purok Kulasi, Brgy. Labangal.

The department would like to extend our gratitude to the sponsors and students who participated the NHM event.

The amount raised during the event last April 30, & May 7 were used to buy consumable product s which was donated for the residents of Prk. Kulasi through the donation drive of CMO-ICCAD.

We hope that this would help the residents of the said Purok.

To showcase the history, traditions, craftsmanship, and even cultural and natural heritage sites of the areas in Mindanao through curation, students of GEC110 exhibit their region’s best for the Garbo Mindanao Regional Curation Exhibit last May 7, 2025, at the CSSH court, MSU-GSC.

Six stations housing the heritage presentations of different regions were built for the curation exhibit. The team representing BARMM garnered the highest score and won the event.

Garbo Mindanao was one of the main events in Pamanang Mindanao, an activity presented by the History Department in partnership with Forum Civil Peace Service (Forum ZFD) and Mindanao History and Studies Advocacy Group to celebrate National Heritage Month 2025.

𝐌𝐒𝐔𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐨 𝐄𝐭𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧

To celebrate and promote the rich culinary heritage of Mindanao, students representing six regions in Mindanao showcase their cooking skills in preparing different Mindanao ethnic cuisine for the Lasang Mindanao cooking competition last May 7, 2025, at the CSSH grounds, MSU-GSC.

Each group prepared cuisines, from appetizers to main dishes to desserts, from regions IX, X, XI, XII, XIII, and BARMM. Students representing the CARAGA region won the competition.

Lasang Mindanao was one of the events in Pamanang Mindanao, an activity presented by the History Department in partnership with Forum Civil Peace Service (Forum ZFD) and Mindanao History and Studies Advocacy Group in celebration of National Heritage Month 2025.
