PROJECT READY Graduates Honored in Meaningful Ceremony

A spirit of pride and commitment filled the venue as students successfully completed the PROJECT READY (Resistance Education Against Drugs for the Youth) Program during the Graduation Ceremony held last January 23, 2025. The event celebrated not only the completion of the anti-drug education initiative but also the strengthened partnership between the school and the Philippine National Police (PNP) in shaping responsible and drug-resistant youth.

Delivering the keynote address was Police Brigadier General Arnold P. Ardiente, who inspired the graduates with a powerful message on leadership, integrity, and courage. PBGen Ardiente underscored the importance of empowering young individuals to make informed decisions and to stand firm against the dangers of illegal drugs. He commended the students for their dedication and reminded them that they are vital partners in building a safer and stronger community.

The ceremony was further honored by the presence of Police Colonel Nicomedes P. Olaivar, City Director of the PNP General Santos City Police Office (GSCPO), who personally congratulated the graduates and reaffirmed the PNPโ€™s unwavering support for youth-centered programs. Also in attendance was Police Lieutenant Colonel Luis S. Pederio, Chief of the City Community Affairs and Development Unit, whose office plays a key role in strengthening police-community relations.

Representing Police Station 4 was Police Major Ivan Charles F. Abastillas, Station Commander of PS4, GSCPO, who expressed pride in the studentsโ€™ achievement and highlighted the importance of continuous collaboration between law enforcement and educational institutions.

Local government officials also graced the occasion, including Honorable Edward Frederick J. Yumang, Barangay Captain; Honorable Rodolfo Lucero, Barangay Kagawad; and Maโ€™am Marites Salcedo, Barangay Anti-Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) Desk Officer. Members of the Philippine National Police and the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) were likewise present in support of the initiative.

The school community, led by School Principal Maโ€™am Gerlie C. Genosa, with the school NDEP/BKD Coordinator Maโ€™am Vanisa Laine A. Cardeรฑo, and the faculty members and proud parents, celebrated the READY graduates for completing the program. The awarding of certificates served as a symbol of the studentsโ€™ commitment to remain vigilant, informed, and resilient against illegal drugs.
The PROJECT READY Graduation Ceremony stood as a testament to the strong partnership among the school, the PNP, and the local governmentโ€”proving that through unity and proactive education, the youth can confidently lead the way toward a drug-free and empowered future.

Lagao 2nd Bo. Elementary School Unveils Grade-Level Reading Parks Created by Learners and Teachers

Lagao 2nd Bo. Elementary School proudly showcased its Grade-Level Reading Parks, a collaborative literacy project created by learners and teachers from Kinder to Grade 6. Each grade level designed its own reading-themed space, reflecting their creativity, teamwork, and growing love for reading.

The initiative encouraged every grade level to conceptualize and build a Reading Park using materials, decorations, and grade-appropriate reading corners. With teachers guiding the process, learners actively participated.

The result was a series of unique Reading Parks that highlighted the identity and skills of each grade level. The project not only promoted literacy but also strengthened cooperation between learners and teachers as they worked together from planning to presentation.

Maโ€™am Gerlie C. Genosa, Principal I, expressed her gratitude and admiration for the united effort behind the project:โ€œOur Grade-Level Reading Parks demonstrate the collective creativity of both our learners and teachers. Their collaboration shows how reading can be made truly enjoyable and vibrant. I commend each grade level for showcasing their imagination and for contributing to a school environment that celebrates literacy and lifelong learning.โ€

The Reading Parks are now open for viewing on the school grounds, inviting parents, visitors, and learners to explore and appreciate the thoughtful work of every grade level. Lagao 2nd Bo. Elementary School continues to uphold its literacy advocacy by creating engaging and child-centered activities that inspire every learner to read.

Learners Shine in Vibrant Reading Month Culmination

The school campus burst with color, excitement, and youthful energy as learners gathered today for the much-anticipated Reading Month Celebration, a month dedicated to fostering love for books and storytelling.

The celebration opened with a festive Parade of Costumes, where pupils marched proudly around the campus dressed as their favorite storybook characters. From heroes and fairies to mythical figures and classic literary icons, the parade transformed the grounds into a living storybook. Teachers and parents expressed delight as learners confidently showcased their characters, reflecting both creativity and enthusiasm.

Following the parade, each grade level took the spotlight for the Presentation of Costumes. Learners enthusiastically introduced their characters and the stories they came from, allowing the audience to appreciate not only their colorful outfits but also their growing familiarity with various literary works. The activity brought smiles and applause as pupils demonstrated how reading can come alive through expression and imagination.

The celebration also featured academic competitions that highlighted the learnersโ€™ literacy skills. Pupils participated in the Spelling Bee, Story Retelling, and Oral Reading events, impressing teachers and classmates with their mastery of words, clarity of storytelling, and confidence in reading aloud. These activities strengthened the learnersโ€™ communication skills and celebrated their progress throughout the reading program.
The event reached its peak with the Awarding of Winners, where outstanding performers in all categories were recognized. Cheers echoed around the venue as pupils celebrated their achievements, while teachers commended all participants for their dedication and hard work.

This yearโ€™s Reading Month Celebration not only showcased the creative talents of the learners but also emphasized the schoolโ€™s continued commitment to promoting literacy. As the program closed, both teachers and students expressed renewed motivation to keep the love for reading burning all year long.

Victory and Grit on Display at the District 10 Sports Meet 2025

Brimming with athleticism, determination, and school spirit, student-athletes from Lagao 2nd Bo. Elementary School proudly made their mark at the District 10 Sports Meet held last October 4, 2025. Competing against schools across the district, our athletes rose to the challenge and earned numerous medals across athletics, badminton, volleyball, and chess.

Track and Field Triumphs

Our girlsโ€™ athletics team showed exceptional talent and determination on the track and field. In the 100-meter dash, Ashniah Caseres clinched 2nd place, while Eliza Mae Perez sprinted to a 3rd place finish in the 200-meter run. The 400-meter run brought double glory with Zaira Sambo taking 1st place, and Ashniah Caseres returning to the podium for 3rd place. In the 800-meter run, Jenroy Pundong showed great endurance and claimed 2nd place.

In the discus throw, Shaira Luganao dominated with a 1st place win, followed by Jenroy Pundong with a 3rd place finish. Shaira Luganao also secured 2nd place in javelin throw, and Sophia Bacea brought home 3rd place in shot put.

The boys also delivered strong field event performances. Ruebourne Luna led the discus throw with a 1st place victory, and Liam Rhey Meneses finished 3rd. Ruebourne Luna added another medal with a 3rd place in shot put. Edgar Jr. Bertudaso showed his power in the javelin throw, landing 1st place, while Jaydine Ken Cabaong took 3rd place in the long jump.

These victories were made possible under the guidance of dedicated coaches Maโ€™am Emily Demafeliz, Sir Dennis Espin, and Sir Jennifer Olasiman.

Smashing Success in Badminton

Our badminton team made their presence felt with impressive finishes. In Girls' Singles B, Zhaira Tapel took 3rd place, while the Girlsโ€™ Doubles pair Joielyn Chloe Duro and Zooey Blake Villacarlos earned a strong 2nd place. Their success came through the excellent training of Maโ€™am Kristine Joy Femangco and Sir Archie Jardeleza.

Volleyball Teams Earn Silver

Both the boysโ€™ and girlsโ€™ volleyball teams delivered thrilling performances that led them to 2nd place finishes. Their unity and determination were cultivated by Ma'am Axcle Rose Alcaide and Maโ€™am Kristine Mae Mina.

Chess Wizards Make Their Move

In the mental battlefield of chess, our school once again excelled. Louise Manuel O. Patana captured 1st place in the boys' division, while Isaiah O. Pedregosa placed 11th. In the girlsโ€™ division, Umy M. Mondragon secured 4th place, with Mae G. Losanoy landing in 8th โ€” a great showing against tough competition.

Chess players were skillfully mentored by Maโ€™am Hannah April Andang and Sir Jennifer Olasiman.

Inspired Leadership

These achievements would not have been possible without the full support and encouragement of our ever-committed principal, Maโ€™am Gerlie Genosa, whose leadership and presence gave strength to the entire team.

A Proud Performance

The District 10 Sports Meet 2025 was more than just a competition โ€” it was a celebration of teamwork, sportsmanship, and school pride. Congratulations to all athletes, coaches, and supporters of Lagao 2nd Bo. Elementary School for bringing home not just medals, but honor to our campus!
