🗓 18 July 2026 | 0700H
📍 Goldenstate College Lagao Campus, San Pablo St., Brgy Lagao, General Santos City.

‎The Goldenstate College ROTC Unit successfully conducted its 1st Battalion Formation for the First Semester of Academic Year 2026–2027 at the Goldenstate College Lagao Campus. The activity was directed by Ssg Jem Boy A Estrada (SC) PA, Chief Clerk, PBGEN Willie M. Dangane Sr. MNSA, E.D., Phd (RET), and together with ,the Graduate Military Assistance, under the guidance and supervision of MAJ Cyrus Luigi L. Del Muro (INF), PA, Commandant and Director of 1203 Community Defense Center (CDC).

The first formation marks the official beginning of the training period for the ROTC Cadets. It serves as the foundation for instilling discipline, order, unity, and proper military bearing among the trainees. The assembly of cadets at the designated parade ground. Despite the early hour and the heat of the sun, all cadets arrived on time and were properly attired in their prescribed uniform: white t-shirt, maong pants, black shoes, and white socks, observing proper grooming and hygiene.

Formation was not merely about standing in line, it was the start of transforming ordinary students into disciplined individuals. The experience taught us the value of punctuality, respect for authority, and working as one unit. There was a noticeable shift in our mindset—from being casual to becoming more alert and organized. We realized that every action has a purpose, and every instruction must be followed precisely.

‎The first formation of the ROTC cadets was a successful and meaningful activity. It laid down the groundwork for the upcoming training sessions and successfully unified the group under common goals and standards. The discipline and spirit shown during this day assure that the corps is ready to face the challenges ahead. We look forward to developing further our skills in leadership, citizenship, and military proficiency in the days to come.

IN PHOTO | The Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) Orientation was successfully conducted to welcomed new cadets, orient them on the program’s objectives, policies, and values, and equip them with essential knowledge on safety and national security. The activity was graced by respected officials who shared meaningful guidance, inspiration, and practical insights for the cadets. Together with our NSTP Director and Dean of the College of Criminology Sir PBGEN Willie M. Dangane, delivered an inspiring speech that deeply moved all participants. He highlighted that joining ROTC is a noble choice rooted in the desire to serve one’s country and community. He reminded the cadets that the training they will undergo will build resilience, integrity, and a strong sense of duty—qualities that will serve them well in their studies, especially as future criminology professionals, and in their lives ahead. He urged them to stay dedicated, uphold honor at all times, and remember that their growth today is an investment in a safer and better Philippines.

The highlight of the afternoon session was the Security Awareness Symposium conducted by the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) Region 12, led by Sir Mr. Mark Chester L. Rosario, Operations Officer of NICA 12. He discussed relevant security concerns facing communities and the country, including how to identify suspicious activities, the importance of reporting threats properly, and the critical role that youth and students play in promoting national security. He also emphasized responsible social media use, proper information literacy, and how to avoid misinformation and harmful influences. His discussion gave the cadets clear, practical knowledge they can apply in their daily lives to keep themselves and others safe.

Throughout the entire activity, the cadets showed full attention, active participation, and great enthusiasm. The orientation achieved its goal of motivating the cadets, orienting them on the program, and increasing their awareness of their role in nation-building and security. The event concluded expressing gratitude to all the distinguished guests and organizers.
