Back to Normal: Full Class Implementation at Buayan NHS

August 17, 2026 marked another meaningful milestone for Buayan National High School as the school officially implemented full face-to-face classes from Grade 7 to Senior High School.

The day began with a flag ceremony, bringing students and teachers together once again as the school embraced the feeling of returning to normal.

Excitement filled the campus as students formally returned to their classrooms, reunited with their classmates and teachers. The school once again came alive with the voices of students, while every classroom was filled with meaningful discussions, learning, and interaction.

It was truly a welcoming sight—a school community coming together and moving forward, back to learning, back to connection, and back to normal.

🚨 EARTHQUAKE DRILL | PREPAREDNESS IN ACTION AT BUAYAN NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL 🏫🌏

The return of our Junior High School learners to face-to-face classes at Buayan National High School was accompanied by an important reminder: being back in school also means being prepared for emergencies.

On their first day back, Junior High School students were first oriented by their respective advisers on what to do in case an earthquake occurs. Teachers guided the learners on the proper safety procedures, reminding them to remain calm, protect themselves, and follow instructions during an emergency.

The following day, upon the instruction of our School Head, Ma’am Marilyn T. Avanceña, the School Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (SDRRM) Team conducted an unannounced earthquake drill among our Junior High School learners and teachers.

The drill was led by our School DRRM Coordinator, Sir Ronnie D. Toreta, together with the teaching and non-teaching personnel. Since the learners had already been oriented the previous day, the unannounced drill served as an opportunity to see how well they could apply what they had learned when faced with an unexpected earthquake scenario.

The activity was more than just a drill. It was a practical test of awareness, discipline, preparedness, and presence of mind. It allowed our learners and teachers to practice responding appropriately, following safety protocols, and working together to keep everyone safe. 🛡️💙

We commend our Junior High School learners, teachers, and school personnel for their cooperation and active participation. Every drill is a learning opportunity, and every lesson learned today can make a difference when a real emergency happens.

💙 CLASSROOM-BASED SEL: KUMUSTAHAN AT PSYCHO-SOCIAL SESSION | “SAFE, SEEN, SUPPORTED” 💙

After the earthquake and the temporary disruption of face-to-face classes, our Junior High School learners of Buayan National High School are finally back together in the classroom. And what better way to welcome them back than with a heartfelt “Kumusta ka?” 🤗

As part of the Classroom-Based Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), Kumustahan at Psycho-Social Session, our learners were given a safe space to check in with their feelings, share their experiences, and reconnect with their classmates and teachers. The session focused on the theme “Safe, Seen, Supported” and included activities such as the Mood Meter Check-In, Rose-Bud-Thorn, stress-management activities, Class Circle of Support, and the class mantra.

The session was a wonderful opportunity to see our learners participate actively, smile, laugh, and enjoy the fun activities, games, and videos prepared for them. It was heartwarming to see them reconnect with their classmates, express themselves, and enjoy being back in the classroom. 💙😊

More than just having fun, the activities provided our learners with an opportunity to reflect on their feelings, recognize their emotions, manage stress, and understand the importance of seeking support when needed. The session also emphasized that they do not have to face difficult moments alone because they have their teachers, classmates, Guidance Office, and other members of the school community who are ready to support them.

The activity reminded us that returning to school is not only about getting back to our lessons. It is also about making sure that our learners feel safe, heard, valued, and supported as they continue their journey this school year.

Because at Buayan National High School, we believe that our learners should always remember:

WELCOME BACK, STUDENTS! It’s Been a Long Time! 🎒📚

After what felt like a long wait, Buayan National High School officially welcomed back its students to face-to-face classes today, August 13, 2026, following the implementation of Executive Order No. 48, Series of 2026.

The day began with pride and patriotism as the Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) led the flag ceremony. The school grounds once again came alive with the presence of students, teachers, and school personnel. Everyone was excited to experience once again the joy of learning together inside the classroom.

Today also marked the first day of conditioning and adjustment as our students gradually transition back to face-to-face learning. It was a meaningful step toward embracing the feeling of returning to normal—rebuilding routines, reconnecting with one another, and creating new learning experiences together.

As we move forward, Buayan NHS remains committed to fostering a learning environment that is safe, engaging, and enjoyable for everyone.

On the Resumption of Face-to-Face Classes

The City Government of General Santos announces the resumption of face-to-face classes in all public schools effective Thursday, August 13, 2026.

📚 GRADE 7 TO GRADE 10
Face-to-face classes will resume tomorrow, Thursday, August 13, 2026.

🎓 SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL
Face-to-face classes will resume on Monday, August 17, 2026, due to ongoing clearing operations in the SHS building.

For Thursday and Friday, Senior High School learners will continue through online/blended learning.

📌 IMPORTANT REMINDERS

🔹 NO ID, NO ENTRY
All learners are required to present their school ID upon entering the school premises.

🔹 WEAR THE PROPER SCHOOL UNIFORM
• Old students are advised to wear their complete school uniform.
• Grade 7 and Grade 11 students whose uniforms are not yet available may wear a plain white shirt.

🔹 SAFETY INSPECTION
All learners will undergo safety inspection upon entering the school premises.

🔹 BE EARLY!
All students are encouraged to arrive before 7:00 AM and attend the Flag Ceremony at 7:00 AM with their respective Class Advisers for attendance checking.

🔹 VEHICLE DROP-OFF & PARKING
Please strictly follow the designated Vehicle Drop-Off Point and Parking Area.

🔹 BULLYING-SAFE ZONE

ADVISORY | PAGBABALIK NG FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES

Batay sa isinagawang joint press conference ng Pamahalaang Lungsod ng General Santos at DepEd General Santos City ngayong hapon, Agosto 11, 2026, maaaring ipagpatuloy anumang araw ngayong linggo ang face-to-face classes sa lahat ng pampublikong paaralang elementarya at sekondarya.

Inaatasan ang lahat ng paaralan na mahigpit na ipatupad ang kanilang School Safety Primer at mga umiiral na protocol sa kaligtasan at seguridad. Kabilang dito ang paggamit lamang ng mga silid-aralan sa ground floor at second floor, araw-araw na maiikling emergency drill, malinaw na proseso ng muling pagsasama ng mga mag-aaral at kanilang pamilya, maayos na sistema ng komunikasyon, at malapit na pakikipag-ugnayan sa mga lokal na ahensiya para sa kaligtasan at pagtugon sa emerhensiya.

Pinahihintulutan din ang mga school head na tukuyin ang pinakaangkop na learning modality—full face-to-face, limited face-to-face, modular, online, o blended learning—batay sa kahandaan at pangangailangan ng paaralan, gayundin sa umiiral na sitwasyon.

Ang lahat ay pinaaalalahanang manatiling mapagmatyag, kalmado, at laging unahin ang kaligtasan habang patuloy tayong bumabangon at unti-unting nagbabalik sa normal na operasyon ng mga paaralan.

Buayan NHS Holds Oath-Taking and Parenting Seminar

August 10, 2026 — Buayan National High School held the presentation of its newly elected officers for School Year 2026–2027 at Buayan NHS Covered Court.

The first part of the program featured the Oath-Taking and Turnover Ceremony for the SPTA, HPTA, SSLG, classroom, and club officers. The ceremony was administered by Hon. Rogelio G. Solis, Barangay Captain of Buayan, who also delivered his words of challenge to the newly elected officers.

The second part featured a Parenting Seminar with the theme, “Parenting in the Digital Age: Protecting Children from Cybercrime Through Positive Discipline.” Resource speakers were Ma'am Marilyn T. Avanceña, Principal III; Felie Mae P. Froman, Population Officer I from City Population Management Office; Miraflor J. Dionaldo, Guidance Counselor I from Deped Gensan; PMAJ. Mark Gerald A. Norbe
Operations Officer from Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit and Herven A. Allado, Education Program Supervisor for Social Mobilization and Networking.

The seminar concluded with an Open Forum facilitated by Ms. Ellalyn T. Reynoso, Guidance Advocate-Designate, where participants were given an opportunity to raise questions and share concerns.

The activity ended with a fellowship lunch, which was enjoyed by the participants and guests.
