What does it truly mean to be a leader?

Bata-Lik: Bata: Liwanag ng Kinabukasan brought together SELG, SSLG, and SINAG Productions for a day of meaningful conversations, exciting games, and team-building activities that turned leadership from an idea into an experience.

The training challenged to redefine their perspective on leadership—not simply about technical skills, titles, or being in front. It is about inspiring people, bringing out their potential, and creating an impact through even the smallest actions. As Sir James shared, “Butterfly effect; the small thing you do has a massive impact on anyone.”

Through every game, discussion, and shared experience, it was a reminder that leadership begins with how we influence and uplift others. The question is not only “How do I want to lead?” but also “How do I want to be remembered?” And perhaps the best answer is: “𝘐 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘥, 𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙛𝙚𝙡𝙩.”

Leadership is not about being the loudest voice in the room, but about becoming the 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐬 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞. 🧡🌟

August 21 is a day to pause and remember Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr., whose life became intertwined with one of the most defining periods in Philippine history.

His story reminds us that love for country is not measured only by grand acts, but also by the courage to stand for what we believe is right. As young Filipinos, we inherit not only the history of those who came before us, but also the responsibility to learn from it and shape what comes next.

May Ninoy’s memory encourage us to value truth, courage, and service, and to never forget that the future of our nation will one day rest in the hands of our generation.

For generations, these words have reminded us of the place young people hold in the story of our nation.

But being the hope of the nation is not simply about waiting for tomorrow. It is about what we choose to do today.

Our youth is filled with different stories, talents, struggles, and ambitions. Yet in every classroom, organization, community, and endeavor, there is an opportunity to turn those dreams into something greater than ourselves.

This International Youth Day, the GSC SPED Supreme Secondary Learner Government celebrates not only the potential of the youth, but also the purpose, courage, and responsibility that come with it.

Because the hope of a nation is not built someday.

It is built by what we do now.

May we continue to learn.
May we continue to question.
May we continue to lead.
And above all, may we continue to believe that our voices, no matter how young, can help shape the nation we hope to inherit.
