The MSU–General Santos IT and Physics Department was proudly invited in the DICT Region XII ILCDB Partners Summit 2025, held on December 5, 2025, at Dreamweavers Hotel, Koronadal City, South Cotabato. The event gathered partner agencies for a day of discussions, collaboration, and recognition aligned with advancing ICT development in Region XII.

The program featured a series of information sessions led by AI Ready ASEAN Master Trainers Tainy V. Bayno and Kristine Joy V. Gleyo, followed by presentations from CISCO and the ILCDB Regional Office. These sessions focused on developing AI skills for nation-building through prompt engineering for modern creative work, as well as strengthening cyber resilience by mastering DPA compliance and policy auditing with advanced prompt engineering.

During the ceremony, a Plaque of Appreciation was awarded to the University, and an official Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between MSU–General Santos and the Department of Information and Communications Technology–ICT Literacy and Competency Development Bureau (DICT–ILCDB).

Representing the University Chancellor, Dr. Lumer Jude P. Doce, Chairperson of the IT and Physics Department, stood as MSU–GenSan’s representative in the ceremonial MOU signing, reinforcing the University’s commitment to digital empowerment and collaborative innovation.

The MOU centers on enhancing digital empowerment through coordinated training and capacity-building activities, the joint development of ICT-focused modules, research, and learning materials, and the implementation of unified advocacy and information campaigns to promote the programs and initiatives shared by both institutions.

This collaboration marks another significant step in advancing ICT education, research, and community engagement in Region XII and beyond. The department extends its gratitude to the DICT–ILCDB for the continued trust and partnership.

𝐓𝐞𝐤𝐤𝐢𝐬𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 | The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) SarGen held the first run of its Mobile Robotics Seminar for 1st Year BSIT students, focusing on Block 25.1.

Under the guidance of Prof. Irene T. Bernadas, MS, and through the expertise of DICT SarGen’s Mr. Fransingco D. Uy and Ms. Kristine Joy V. Gleyo, students were introduced to the exciting world of mobile robotics and engaged in hands-on tech innovation.

The Information Technology Department is pleased to announce that the Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT) program received a strong recommendation from the CHED–OPSD technical panel during the recently concluded evaluation.

The panel—composed of Dr. Randy Gamboa, Dr. Angie Ceniza Canillo, Dr. Maria Theresa Magdolot, and Ms. Remedios Talingdan—commended the department’s qualified faculty lineup, robust curriculum design, active research culture, and well-equipped learning facilities.

This positive endorsement marks a significant milestone for the IT Department as it moves toward offering advanced graduate studies aimed at fostering innovation, research excellence, and industry-ready expertise in Southern Mindanao.

The department extends its heartfelt gratitude to the University Chancellor, Chancellor Shidik Zed T. Abantas, the Academic Affairs of the Mindanao State University General Santos City, headed by Dr. Mishell Lawas, the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Planning and Development, headed by Dr. Randy Asturias, and the MSU GSC Quality Assurance Management Services Office, headed by Dr. Monsour Pelmin, for their steadfast guidance, support, and dedication throughout the evaluation process.

The MSU-General Santos City Department of Information Technology & Physics is currently hosting the CHED–Office of Programs and Standards Development (OPSD) evaluation for the proposed Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT) program.

The evaluation team is composed of esteemed CHED Technical Panel members:
Dr. Randy Gamboa, Dr. Angie Ceniza Canillo, Dr. Maria Theresa Magdolot, and Ms. Remedios Talingdan.

The department proudly welcomes the panel as they assess the program’s curriculum, faculty readiness, research competency, and the adequacy of laboratories and learning facilities. This activity marks a vital step toward elevating graduate-level IT education in the university.

Following the morning run of Trend Micro’s Cyber Defense Security Conference (CDSC) earlier today, November 19, at the University Gymnasium, the afternoon session is now underway, welcoming a new set of students.

Still centered on the growing importance of cybersecurity awareness, this session now engages students from various programs, underscoring that digital safety is not only a concern for tech-related fields. It reinforces the message that cybersecurity knowledge is essential for everyone, regardless of background or course.

By broadening cybersecurity literacy across disciplines, this event advances SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, helping build a digitally resilient and secure academic community.

Held at the University Gymnasium this November 19, the morning session of Trend Micro’s Cyber Defense Security Conference (CDSC) is now in full swing.

The program opened with welcome remarks from the IT and Physics Department Chairperson, Dr. Lumer Jude P. Doce, who greeted students from the BS Information Technology program and the College of Engineering, and expressed his gratitude to Trend Micro for partnering with Mindanao State University – General Santos.

In his message, Dr. Doce highlighted the importance of responsible and future-ready cybersecurity, emphasizing the shared goal “to make our digital space safer and more efficient.”

This initiative also supports the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, by promoting secure and inclusive digital learning environments.

𝙄𝙣𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙧𝙚, 𝙄𝙣𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙚, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙄𝙏 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙋𝙝𝙮𝙨𝙞𝙘𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙈𝙎𝙐 𝙂𝙚𝙣𝙎𝙖𝙣 𝙒𝙖𝙮!

Last October 29, 2025, Mindanao State University-General Santos, through the ICT Department, signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Philippine National Police-Sarangani. Under this MOA, the university will lead the conduct of ICT Literacy and Cybersecurity Training Programs for PNP Sarangani. The engagement will also include research and community extension programs related to digital safety and cybersecurity advocacy.
