Project Bayanihan: The Community Engagement Experience

𝙃𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙤, 𝘿𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙣𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙤𝙤𝙣-𝙩𝙤-𝙗𝙚 𝘿𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙣𝙨!

Life has been difficult for all of us for the past two years. This COVID-19 pandemic may have ended the traditional face-to-face classes, but it never shut down our eagerness for learning as we embraced the new normal form of education, the Online Learning.

As we gradually go back into normal, the NDDU SHS-IBED Lagao is delighted to announce the learning modality for the school year 2022-2023: Blended Learning. This Blended Learning will consist of an on-campus face-to-face classes paired with any mix of online and modular distance learning.

Together, we innovate minds, inculcate the Marist values, and build the potential pillars of tomorrow. The best interest of every student is the center of our every decision.

A heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the speakers given by our beloved Conference Director, Mr. John Lester Combong has truly reflected the essence of Bayanihan. United as one, the speakers have shared their knowledge to every learner of Notre Dame of Dadiangas University, together with the committees and behind every sponsor of this program.

Mr. Combong reminisced the history of Bayanihan, a memory indeed. The objectives, participations and most ardently the unity of the team tells no more less about the success of every hard work and sacrifices. The theme of openness that lets everyone thrive for the days that hindrances has paved its way and tolerance that alleviates every urge of individuals to help and contribute to the community. A great method of Bayanihan that lets everyone speak, share, and spread awareness to the society.

There were obstacles, but no one tried to surrender. Mr. Combong stated, “Ang Bayanihan ay hindi kaya ng iisang tao lamang maging ng dalawa o tatlo.” and that speak reality of today, oneness and harmonious relationship with one another. Indeed, a Bayanihan will lead us to a sustainable and progressive nation.

UNITY. It starts with you. If not you, then who?

𝘈𝘋𝘋𝘜 𝘉𝘭𝘶𝘦 𝘝𝘰𝘵𝘦 𝘔𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳 𝘐𝘯𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘴 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘩

Ma’am Jones Janelle Estocapio, an exemplary member of the Ateneo De Davao University Blue Vote delivers teachings that bring forth additional realizations and understanding from the youth. With her statement, “Regardless of who will win, the election is a democratic process so, don’t tell people who to vote but tell people how to vote properly.” She emphasized the importance of every citizen’s right to vote without unreasonable restrictions.

This year’s election has become such a widespread topic all over the Philippines and it quickly became a major test for people’s social movements and their beliefs. With the contradiction of different groups of people about their chosen candidates, it has caused uproar on various social media platforms. It was going beyond the normal limit of healthy arguments and debates. Through the message of Ma’am Jones, it reinstated the true purpose of what every individual is actually fighting for this upcoming election. The nation’s security and economic growth.

On May 9th, more than just the presidency will be decided on. Thousands of positions in the government are up for grabs around the country, ranging from the vice presidency and Senate seats to 18,000 municipal roles such as mayors and governors. This is why a proper understanding of the candidates running for various positions is necessary for one’s vote can be one’s key to either making or breaking the future of the country.

In line with this, students of Notre Dame of Dadiangas University have come together to learn about the proper procedures and their rights in voting in this upcoming election through the webinars prepared by the Bayanihan Committee. Here, students have the opportunity to further understand that the election is a process wherein all of us unite to exercise our freedom in the right ways. The youth is the generation that will help mold the future into a marvelous one after all.
