Storytelling has long been central to African and Middle Eastern cultures as a way of preserving history, identity, and collective memory. Unlike written literature, oral traditions emphasize performance, audience participation, and adaptability. This activity, Community Storytelling: Voices Unbound, will be conducted under LCS 117: Literatures of Africa and the Middle East. Students will present adapted African and Middle Eastern stories drawn from class discussions and personal research, allowing them to explore diverse storytelling traditions while remaining grounded in their cultural contexts.
Join us this May 20, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Laktanan Wellness Park. Spend an afternoon enjoying free coffee and storytelling amidst the comfort of mats and nature. Let us celebrate a community bound by oral culture, together and beyond.

A strange feeling you canโt shake.
A shadow that lingers a little too long.
A story that was never just a story.
๐ฟ๐๐๐๐๐ฃ๐๐๐ค๐จ๐ฉ ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐ฉ๐๐ ๐๐ฃ๐๐๐ฃ๐ฃ๐ฎ Stories first batch of episodes explores the fear of the unknown โ that sign you ignore, that feeling of being watched, and those legends you might never want to remember.
These may stay with you.

In a time where oral storytelling is slowly fading, collecting these uncanny stories allows communities to document memories, beliefs, fears, and cultural experiences often passed down only through word of mouth.
Retelling these narratives is important because local ghost stories are never โjust stories.โ They reflect the anxieties, values, histories, and identities of the people who tell them. Through podcast storytelling, these narratives are given new life and a wider audience, transforming forgotten whispers into cultural records that continue to haunt, teach, and connect generations.
The first batch out now, new set of episode on May 22 and May 29.
The stories you are about to hear are rooted in local memories, whispered encounters, and uncanny experiences passed from one person to another for years. Some names were forgotten. Some places remain real. And some stories were never meant to be retold after dark.
If the room suddenly feels colder,
if the silence becomes too loud,
or if you start feeling like someone else is listening with youโ
do not say we didnโt warn you.

This book fair examines the "Filipinization" of clinical concepts through the lens of children's literature. Rooted in Dr. Luis P. Gatmaitan's advocacy for literacy through children's literature and developed by 4th Year Bachelor of Arts in Literary and Cultural Studies (BALCS) students under the course LCS147: Literature and Medicine, this book fair explores how storytelling and cultural context demystify complex medical principles, confront socio-cultural realities and empower young readers to navigate their own physical well-being.
We invite you this May 20, 2026, from 9:00 AM - 12:00 NN at Coffee Alley, MSU-Gensan to share in the simple, warm wonder of seeing the world once more through a childโs eyes. Ultimately, this book fair demonstrates that communal healing and profound medical insight can be held by the smallest books.

The seminar became a meaningful learning experience for the students as they gained practical knowledge in creating instructional materials and developing lesson plans for the teaching of literature. These are important skills that will help shape them as future educators and cultural practitioners.
Special thanks to the resource speaker and facilitator, Prof. Joveth Jay D. Montaรฑa, for sharing valuable insights and guiding the students in understanding the importance of designing creative and effective learning materials for meaningful classroom engagement.
This seminar served as a step forward in strengthening the studentsโ preparation for the field of teaching literature

Ideas find their rhythm when voices come together, and stories take shape in shared spaces. For BA in Literary and Cultural Studies first year students, the Research Colloquium became such a moment where research was presented with confidence, insights were exchanged, and meaning was discovered in one anotherโs perspectives.
Guided by the theme โVoices and Vision: Mapping Cultural Patterns, Symbolic Expressions, and Community Narratives Passed Through Generations,โ the event is more than an academic exercise, it is a cultural gathering of curiosity, discipline, and fresh vision. Each contribution reflects not only individual effort but also the collective spirit of learning. Every voice carries weight, and each perspective deepens our understanding of the world and the communities we belong to, turning everyoneโs voices into vision.
