​Calaoagan Dackel National High School student Jhon Eds Saquing captured gold medal at the 2026 SMART/MVPSF Regional Taekwondo Championships under Kyorugi Toddler Novice category held in SM Tuguegarao City on July 18–19, shattering the win streak of his two-time gold medalist contender.

​Saquing dominated the first match of the tournament by outscoring Tuguegarao's bet, Zaion, with a clear 15–5 victory.

​He locked in the championship during the second match by outplaying the back-to-back gold medalist with a final score of 10–3.

​Coach Wynema Gay Tolentino guided the CDNHSian athlete to his official gold medal finish.

Student-researchers from Calaoagan Dackel National High School (CDNHS) brought pride after garnering prestigious awards in the Kryacademia Online Holiday Program: Biomedical, an international online learning initiative organized by Kryacademia, Indonesia.

The program consisted of four virtual sessions held on June 26, June 27, July 1, and July 7, culminating in a project showcase where participants presented innovative biomedical concepts and research-based outputs.

Among the participating teams, Galileo Marphy J. Agustin and Dezireij Loraine C. Tan emerged as the Best Project Team, earning a 100% scholarship to participate in the International Kids Conference 2026 in recognition of their outstanding project presentation and collaboration.

In addition to the team's achievement, Agustin received the Beyond Expectations Award, which grants him a 50% scholarship to the Kryacademia Holiday Program: Ink & Echo.

Meanwhile, Pearl Shannel A. Dela Rosa was recognized with the Inspired Learner Award, which includes a 50% scholarship to the Kryacademia Holiday Program: Ink & Echo.

Likewise, Adienn Chrislouh E. Ong earned the Explorer Award, receiving a 50% scholarship to the same program.

The participating teams from the school were composed of Galileo Marphy J. Agustin and Dezireij Loraine C. Tan, Pearl Shannel A. Dela Rosa and John Raphael A. Laddaran, and Adienn Chrislouh E. Ong and Estheeven Joe B. Vidad, all of whom represented the school in the international online biomedical program.

The student-researchers were coached by Unnis P. Aguilor, whose guidance supported the participants throughout the competition and project development process.

​Calaoagan Dackel National High School chess prodigy Myko Jathne Publico cemented his legacy on the board after capturing a back-to-back championship title, finishing with a dominant 12-1 standing during the two-day Municipal Meet concluded at the school yesterday, July 11.

Meanwhile, his teammate John Alley Belleza landed in fourth place with a score of 9.5, while in the girls' category, Jhandy Delos Santos secured third place and Abrielle Haven Baylosis finished fourth.

Publico's victory earning him a spot in the upcoming Provincial Meet, where he will represent the Municipality of Gattaran.

​Calaoagan Dackel National High School proudly produced nine gold medalists, consisting of three cadet girls, one cadet boy, three junior girls, and two junior boys, during the 2026 Municipal Meet wrestling tournament held at the school yesterday, July 11.

​With their victories secured, these nine athletes will move on to the next level of competition and are set to train hard to improve their skills and represent the Municipality of Gattaran.

Personnel from the Philippine National Police (PNP)-Gattaran assisted in the routine bag inspection of students and school personnel today at Calaoagan Dackel National High School (CDNHS).

Led by PMaj. Elesio Magno, Officer-in-Charge of PNP-Gattaran, the activity reinforced the school's campaign to maintain a safe learning environment and sustain its zero-crime rate since the opening of classes.

The initiative forms part of the municipality's heightened security measures in schools following the recent shooting incident in Tacloban City and other reported cases of criminality involving students and educational institutions across the country.

Regular patrols, routine security screenings, and close coordination between school officials and law enforcement continue to strengthen campus security and promote peace and order within the school community.

School administrators who are also present in the monitoring thanked the PNP for this support.

GATTARAN, CAGAYAN — In line with its commitment to ensuring the safety and preparedness of learners and personnel, Calaoagan Dackel National High School (CDNHS) conducted an earthquake drill led by the School Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (SDRRM) on June 18.

The activity targeted to strengthen the disaster response capabilities of students and school personnel.

Prior to the simulation, Isagani Medina, the SDRRM Coordinator, highlighted the importance of preparedness, presence of mind, and cooperation during emergencies. Students were reminded of the potential risks posed by earthquakes and the significance of following established safety measures to minimize injuries and casualties.

In a room-to-room campaign made during the opening block, Medina said everyone has to prepare for disasters, connecting to the 7.8 magnitude quake that took lives in the southern regions of the country.

“Ginagawa natin ito para kung sakaling may mangyaring lindol dito sa atin, aware na tayo sa mga dapat nating gawin upang maging ligtas sa kapahamakan,” Medina said.

During the drill, teachers supervised their respective classes while emergency response teams monitored evacuation routes and assembly areas to ensure the smooth flow of the activity. The exercise also provided an opportunity to assess the school’s emergency preparedness plans and identify areas for improvement.

School officials emphasized that regular disaster preparedness activities are essential in cultivating a culture of safety and resilience among learners.
