Three SCAGI Student-Athletes Advance to Higher-Level Meets After Municipal Meet

Three student-athletes from St. Catherine’s Academy of Gattaran Inc. (SCAGI) secured spots in the pre-provincial meet following the Municipal Meet 2026 held on July 11 across secondary schools in the town.

Brian Lester Talamayan qualified in table tennis, while Earl John Martin and Camille Khate Asumbra advanced in chess after finishing first runner-up and champion, respectively.

Also in table tennis, Brianna Jollie Lacerona and Gabriel Earvin Jay Sian won the Girls’ Singles C and Boys’ Singles C titles, respectively. Other SCAGI participants were Hanna Ellisa Real, Ellein Faylogna and Raniel Abuan. The team was coached by Nicole Bernardino.

In badminton, Princess Sam Recolizado finished second in the Singles A category. Also representing SCAGI were Janine Daguio, Ma. Angela Palor, Jyasmin Nicole Capili, Mark Christian Canes, John Ryan Baralin, Prinzz Juan, and Cyril Franco Palor under coaches Rose Ann Tolentino and Rowel B. Domingo.

Meanwhile, in track and field, Jessie James D. Gultiano placed fourth in the 100-meter dash and third in the 200-meter dash under coach Lycha Cudal.

SCAGI also fielded teams in basketball and girls’ volleyball, handled by Hanrens Gilbert Stacy, and Rheaflor Purificacion, Maricar A. Siriban, and John Emanuel Labbao, respectively.

The qualifiers will represent the school in the upcoming Pre-Provincial Meet.

ST. CATHERINE'S ACADEMY HOLDS HOLY SPIRIT MASS, INDUCTS OFFICERS FOR SCHOOL YEAR

St. Catherine's Academy of Gattaran, Inc. held its Holy Spirit Mass on July 7, formally opening the school year with the induction of newly elected officers and the oath taking of school personnel.

The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Rev. Fr. Ramiro Pablo Geronimo and was attended by the Dominican Sisters, Dominican Brothers, school personnel, and students of the institution.

As part of the liturgical program, representatives from each department lit the seven candles symbolizing the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit — wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord — signifying the community's collective prayer for divine guidance throughout the school year.

Following the Mass, the Class Officers, Supreme Student Council (SSC) Officers, and Club Officers for the school year were formally inducted into their respective positions. The Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) Officers were also inducted, affirming their role in supporting the school's programs and initiatives.

The school personnel likewise took their oath of office as part of the day's proceedings, reaffirming their commitment to the institution's mission and standards of service.

The Holy Spirit Mass is held annually by the school to seek guidance and blessing for the year's undertakings.

Amid anticipation and resounding school spirit, St. Catherine’s Academy of Gattaran Inc. formally proclaimed the winners of the recently concluded SHS and JHS Supreme Student Council elections, marking a renewed chapter of student leadership anchored on service, integrity, and accountability.

The electoral exercise, a testament to the democratic voice of the Catherinean community, culminated in the rise of a new set of student leaders entrusted with representing the collective aspirations of their peers. As ballots turned into mandates, the newly elected officers now carry the responsibility of transforming promises into purposeful action.

From fresh notebooks na ayaw sulatan agad, hanggang sa baon na ubos bago mag-recess, everything feels new, exciting, at medyo nakakatamad gumising, pero kakayanin.

Sa pagbabalik-eskwela na ito, dala natin hindi lang mabibigat na bags, kundi bagong pag-asa, bagong goals, at ang yearly promise na “this year, mag-aaral na talaga ako.”

St. Catherine’s Academy of Gattaran, Inc. opens School Year 2026–2027 on June 22, bringing back early alarms, baon prep, at yung pilit na pagbangon kahit kulang sa tulog.

For some, it’s a fresh start. Para sa iba, konting tiis na lang—malapit na sa finish line. But for everyone, it’s another year of showing up, learning, and making every school day count.
