𝙂𝙉𝙏𝙎 𝘼𝙡𝙪𝙢𝙣𝙞 𝙏𝙧𝙞𝙪𝙢𝙥 𝙞𝙣 𝙍𝙄𝘼𝘾𝘼𝙏 𝙈𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙋𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙨𝙩

𝘛𝘶𝘨𝘶𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘰 𝘊𝘪𝘵𝘺, 𝘊𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘺𝘢𝘯 - A proud moment for Gattaran National Trade School (GNTS) unfolded as three of its distinguished alumni, now educators at the Department of Education Regional Office 02, emerged as champions in the 1st-ever Regional Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (RIACAT) Inter-Agency Mural Painting Contest. The contest served as the centerpiece of the 2024 International Day Against Trafficking (IDAT) celebration.

Reden Indong, Federico Villanueva, and Aladin Catolos, all GNTS alumni, showcased their artistic talent and advocacy in the competition, held at Cagayan National High School on December 12, 2024. Their winning mural embodied this year’s theme: "Isang Nasyon, Isang Aksyon: Sa Bagong Pilipinas, Tapusin ang OSAEC at Human Trafficking Ngayon".

The mural-making competition highlighted the annual observance of IDAT, a global initiative aimed at raising awareness and inspiring collective action against human trafficking and online exploitation. RIACAT spearheaded the event, bringing together agencies, institutions, and advocates to promote a unified stance against these critical issues.

Indong, Villanueva, and Catolos’ work was lauded for its powerful visual storytelling and alignment with the advocacy’s goals. Their mural vividly depicted the urgent call to end human trafficking and online exploitation, resonating deeply with both the judges and the audience.

In an interview, Reden Indong expressed gratitude for the opportunity to participate. “This victory is not just ours; it’s for everyone committed to the fight against human trafficking. As teachers, we aim to inspire others to take action through both education and art.”

The trio’s success reflects not only their individual talents but also the strong foundation laid by their alma mater, Gattaran National Trade School. It also underscores the power of art as a medium for advocacy and change.

The IDAT celebration’s success was marked by the enthusiastic participation of various agencies and stakeholders, emphasizing unity in addressing the pressing issues of human trafficking and online exploitation.

The community eagerly anticipates the continued contributions of Indong, Villanueva, and Catolos in future advocacies and artistic endeavors, serving as beacons of hope and inspiration in the fight for a safer and brighter future for all.

TATAK GNTS| In an electrifying day of talent and community spirit, Eugene James Manawatao clinched the title of First Runner-Up at The Voice Gattaran Year 9 Secondary Category during the grand celebration of the 401st Gattaran Patronal Fiesta and the 11th Agsalukag Festival held over the weekend. Alongside him, Joela Gammuac captivated audiences with her moving performance, making it a day to remember for the people of Gattaran.

The competition was one of the highlight events of the 401st Gattaran Patronal Fiesta and the 11th Agsalukag Festival, both of which celebrated the town's rich cultural heritage. The festival, which honors the town’s patron saint, St. Catherine of Alexandria, also marked a milestone in the community's enduring traditions. The Voice Gattaran served as an excellent platform for local talent to shine, with the youth of Gattaran taking center stage in a truly memorable celebration of music and culture.

EJ Manawatao, a rising star from Gattaran National Trade School, has been a crowd favorite throughout the competition for his powerful vocals and stage presence. Though he didn't take home the top spot, his performance during the live finale won the hearts of both the judges and the audience, securing him a well-deserved place as the first runner-up. The winner of this year's edition was Kim Cyrene Liegh Cortes, but it was clear that Manawatao’s vocal talent and passion set the bar high.

Meanwhile, Joela Gammuac, another standout performer in the competition, made a name for herself with her soulful renditions and captivating stage presence. Although she did not make it into the final two, Gammuac’s performance during the festival was a highlight, drawing praise from music lovers and fellow performers alike.

As EJ Manawatao and Joela Gammuac take their first steps toward their musical careers, the Gattaran National Trade School is sure to continue its tradition of nurturing and celebrating local talent for years to come.
