Say No to Drugs” is now visible almost everywhere. The Philippine drug war is the anti-drug policy and actions of the Philippine government under President Rodrigo Duterte, who assumed office on June 30, 2016. According to former Philippine National Police Chief and future senator Ronald Dela Rosa, the policy is aimed at "the neutralization of illegal drug personalities nationwide". Drug addiction is a major social evil of modern times. Major newspaper headlines and sensational television coverage scream about drug abuse and related crimes. Fascination for drugs and their easy availability have heightened the number of drug abuse cases particularly among youngsters. Few people deny the dangers of drug use, while many teens are curious about drugs. They should stay away from drugs because drugs affect our health, lead to academic failure, and jeopardizes safety.

This is why many had considered drugs to be dangerous, they thought that the usage of drugs should be banned completely from the society. On the contrary to the common beliefs of the society, not all drugs are used for recreational purposes. In the medical field, drugs are widely used in the treatment and prevention diseases. Pain killers such as morphine are used to reduce pain. There are also certain types of drugs where its usage had been known to stimulate brain activity. Nootropics, also known as "cognitive enhancers", can improve our abilities of understanding and acquiring knowledge. For centuries, doctors have made the application of these drugs, beneficial the society.

"Drugs are a waste of time. They destroy our memory and our self-respect and everything that goes along with our self-esteem.” Every drug, including alcohol and to***co, which is socially acceptable, is harmful for the body as a whole. But the drugs which have a high physical dependence are more dangerous for the health in comparison to others. As the concentration of alcohol increases in the blood, vision, hearing, smell, taste and muscle coordination are affected, resulting in staggering in one’s gait.

Long term rehabilitation is often the only workable solution for those that are trapped in the downward spiral of addiction. The type of treatment needed often depends on the drug to which the person is addicted. Drug are addictive in nature. Its addiction is seen as a serious brain disorder. Despite its adverse effects, it is considered as compulsive usage of drugs. Drug addiction is defined as a state where a person is unable to control his urge to use drugs. Besides being chronic, it also has a relapsing nature.
