Good day parents & caregivers of PlayPlus! We would like to invite to our webinar entitled; “ABKD: A Bridging Opportunity To Knowing School Placement For Diverse Learners” to be held on August 13, 2023, Saturday, 10am.

This is a free webinar & the gist of this seminar is to educate parents that there are other means of schooling such as homeschooling.

Homeschooling doesn’t just mean that the parents will be the ones to teach at home but in reality, parents can ask for help or support from other people who are qualified in the field.

The beauty of homeschooling is that it also offers parents an opportunity that other traditional or progressive schools in the metro can't provide such as flexibility, individualism, and many more. Yes to

We hope to see everyone there so we can provide more insight regarding this topic! 😊 If you wish to join, you may message us for the zoom link. See you!

Why have an egg hunt this Easter?
“An Easter scavenger hunt is a great activity to celebrate Jesus' resurrection! After all, the women went to the tomb seeking Jesus and found He was alive!” (Creative Bible Study, 2023)

Treat painting, Easter eggs or any output, as “process art”. Process art encourages children’s creativity through developmentally appropriate art experiences.

Process Art has no step by step instructions, just materials- maybe start with a story, a song, a dance- and let them explore using the materials presented.

There is no sample for children to follow, no right or wrong way. Its focus is on the experience- creating, experimenting with various media, relaxing, and calming.

Meanwhile, following instructions especially when cooking, baking, or Science projects, are helpful also for children to learn about measurements, safety, and work on their motor skills.

A blessed weekend to all🪴

What do eggs have to do with Easter?

“Just as Jesus rose from the tomb, the egg symbolized new life emerging from the eggshell.” (Encyclopedia Britannica, 2023)

Children painted the eggs, and even put some googly eyes!😍

Before we send all the children off to their Holy Week /Lenten Season break, this week we focused on learning all about Christ and the celebration of Easter 🥰

We read Christ centered storybooks, did experiments, and had arts and crafts!

One of our favorite activities is learning about the cross and what it symbolizes. Can easily be done using the ff materials:
• Paper
• Masking tape
• Paint or crayons

Best supported by readings books such as
• The Story of Easter
• God Gave Us Easter
• Why We Celebrate Easter

Or online videos by Saddleback Kids
• Jesus’ Sacrifice

What are your Easter traditions? Share it witht us below :) ⬇️

“Pre-writing skills are the fundamental fine motor skills that children need to develop before they begin to write.

Pre-writing skills help your child build finger strength, eye hand coordination, wrist movement and grip strength.

These will in turn help children to gradually hold and use a pencil or any writing tool to draw, write, colour and in general, express themselves.”
(Kutuki, 2021)

Also,

“The link between handwriting proficiency and a child's cognitive, emotional, and academic functioning has been well documented in the literature.

Automaticity in handwriting promotes higher level composition skills, fluency, grammar, spelling, and academic achievement.” (Schneck, 2010)

Let children make slime, make playdough, peel fruits, chop, and just like in our class, cut playdough!

The Third Teacher is the space- it should invite children to play, create, and interact with the environment.

Sometimes, it can be as simple as letting light come through, removing clutter, or making room to breathe. In SHL, we are making sure our spaces will have the child in the center of our design.
