Today’s date is a palindrome!

A rare sequence that reads the same forward and backward.

Interestingly, one of the world's most recognizable brands, Xerox, is also a palindrome!

But Xerox is known not only for its unique name. It is also a classic example of a company actively protecting its trademark from becoming a generic term.

Through consistent brand management and enforcement, Xerox has worked to ensure that its trademark remains a protected brand name rather than a common word for photocopying.

A reminder that strong brands are built not only through recognition, but also through continuous efforts to protect and preserve their intellectual property.

today to learn more on how the UP Manila Technology Transfer and Business Development Office can help you secure your brand.

💡✨ Brains were buzzing and ideas were flowing as the UP Manila Technology Transfer and Business Development Office (UPM-TTBDO) paid a visit to the UPLB Technology Transfer and Business Development Office (UPLB-TTBDO) for a benchmarking adventure at the UPLB TTBDO Innovation Nexus!

🚀 More than just a meeting, the activity became a lively exchange of experiences, best practices, and “aha!” moments on technology transfer, innovation programs, and startup support initiatives. 🤝📚

🌱 One of the biggest highlights of the visit was the deep dive into UPLB-TTBDO’s Technology Business Incubator (TBI) initiatives and operations. From startup stories 💼 and technology utilization strategies 💡 to industry partnerships 🤝 and operational tips 📈, the discussions gave the UPM-TTBDO team plenty of fresh ideas and inspiration as it explores building its own TBI.

The benchmarking activity not only sparked new learnings ✨, but also strengthened connections and collaboration between the two offices — proving that innovation grows even better when ideas are shared! 🌟

We thank the welcoming and hospitable staff of the UPLB TTBDO for welcoming us to their office and the engaging discussions. We are looking forward to more partnerships between our two offices.

We still can't get over ! 🤩

Last May 14, innovators, industry leaders, government agencies, researchers, development partners, and members of the academe gathered for TeknoLusugan 2026: Med in UP – Matching Innovations, Creating Collaborations to explore how health technologies can move from the laboratory to real-world application.

The event featured eight innovative technologies from UP Manila researchers with strong potential for utilization and public health impact, alongside meaningful discussions on collaboration, innovation adoption, and technology transfer.

Two engaging panel discussions further enriched the conversation. “How Health Innovations Come Together” highlighted the importance of collaboration across the innovation ecosystem. From research and product development to manufacturing, investment, and adoption. Meanwhile, “Opportunities and Support for Health Innovation Adoption” provided valuable insights on government programs, regulatory pathways, intellectual property protection, and other mechanisms that support innovation adoption and commercialization.

Thank you to all our speakers, panelists, exhibitors, innovators, participants, and industry partners for making this year’s TeknoLusugan a meaningful and successful gathering.

IN PHOTOS: Dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases have remained a major public health concern in the Philippines. For a tropical country where mosquitoes thrive year-round, protection against mosquito bites has become part of daily life for many Filipino families.

At the University of the Philippines (UP) Manila, retired professor Dr. Gracia Fe Yu strived to create a safer and more sustainable solution through a plant-based mosquito repellent and insecticide technology developed from natural extracts. A former full-time professor from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of the UP College of Medicine, she remained deeply committed to developing innovations that could directly benefit communities.
