PARA PELIKULA, the film screening event of PHILARTS WEEK 2026 featuring “Bar Boys: After School” and “Shake, Rattle, and Roll Evil Origins”, has been postponed.

Sad ba kayo ??? Kami din eh, pero fear not 🤩😝 kasi di namin kayo bibiguin. Darating din siya at the right time and the right place—ika nga nila 🤭. Pupunta din sa UP Manila ang mga pelikulang ito.

Matapos ang matagumpay na unang yugto ng 𝐋𝐚𝐤𝐛𝐚𝐲 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠, nagpapatuloy ang paglalakbay nito upang maabot ang mas marami pang kabataang nais tuklasin ang mundo ng sining at kultura. 🎨

Sa ikalawang yugto ng Caravan, dadalhin ng UP Manila Department of Arts and Communication at BA Philippine Arts (BAPA) ang isang espasyo ng pagkatuto at pag-uusap para sa mga mag-aaral na may interes sa malikhaing larangan.

Sa pamamagitan ng mga palihan, pagbabahagi ng karanasan mula sa PhilArts alumni, at gabay sa paghahanda para sa UPCAT, layunin ng Lakbay Sining na ipakita na ang sining ay higit pa sa talento—ito ay pananaliksik, pag-unawa sa kultura, at paglilingkod sa bayan.

Para sa mga kabataang may hilig sa sining at kultura, inaanyayahan namin kayong sumama sa susunod na hakbang ng paglalakbay na ito.

Kung ang sining para sa’yo ay higit pa sa pagguhit at pagtatanghal—kung ito’y tungkol sa kultura, pananaliksik, at pagpapahalaga sa ating pagka-Pilipino—may paparating na programa na tiyak na magpupukaw ng iyong interes.

Hatid ng UP Manila Philippine Arts Program (BAPA), mag-aalok ang Lakbay Sining ng mga kwento, talakayan, at sining na magbibigay-liwanag sa kung ano ang Philippine Arts at paano ito hinuhubog sa UPM.

Abangan at makilahok. Isang lakbay tungo sa sining at kultura ang naghihintay.

The UP Manila Department of Arts and Communication proudly celebrates its faculty member, Mr. Ryan Machado, as his film “Rumaragasa (Raging)” heads to its international premiere at the 76th Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale). The full-length feature starring Elijah Canlas, Ron Angeles, and Reynald Santos will be showcased under the Panorama section of the film festival from February 12 to 22, 2026, in Germany. "Rumaragasa (Raging)" was previously screened at Cinemalaya 2025 where it won Best Cinematography and Best Sound Design.

This marks Mr. Machado's second Berlinale entry after his debut film, "Huling Palabas", was shortlisted and screened for the Generation 14plus category in 2024. DAC is deeply proud and honored to celebrate this significant milestone in Mr. Machado’s creative journey. Undoubtedly, his brilliant works continue to contribute meaningfully to the growing presence of Philippine cinema on the global stage.

Kung ang sining para sa iyo ay hindi lang drawing at arte kundi pananaliksik, kalinangan ng lahi at pagpapahalaga sa sining, ang 𝐋𝐚𝐤𝐛𝐚𝐲 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 ay nilikha para sa’yo. 🎭

Hatid ng UP Manila, Department of Arts and Communication, at BA Philippine Arts (BAPA), ang Lakbay Sining ay isang bisita-eskwela caravan na magdadala ng kaalaman at oportunidad sa mga mag-aaral sa larangan ng sining at kultura. Ilan sa mga ihahandog ng programa ay ang palihan (workshop), mga pagbabahagi ng PhilArts alumni, at gabay sa paghahanda para sa UPCAT.

Para sa mga mag-aaral na nais tahakin ang landas ng sining at kultura, inaanyayahan namin kayong tuklasin kung paano hinuhubog ng BAPA ang mga estudyanteng-artista-mananaliksik-Pilipinong may malasakit at pagmamahal sa kultura at sa bayan.

DAC Strategic Planning and Review Workshop
(12-13 January 2026)

Earlier this week, the Department of Arts and Communication held its two-day strategic planning and review workshop.

Action plans were reviewed and revised on Day 1 for the key result areas of Teaching, Research and Creative Work, and Extension and Public Service. Workshops on succession planning, marketing, and budgeting were held on Day 2.

Here’s to the start of another productive semester!

Re: GE Classes and Requests

DAC will not be accommodating petitions to open additional GE classes and requests for additional slots EXCEPT when the student is GRADUATING this Second Semester, 2025-2026; in which case the approval of additional slots is still subject to the teacher's prerogative.

Most of our faculty members have already been assigned a 15/18-unit teaching load. A number of our faculty members are on reduced teaching load as they need to focus on their graduate studies. The sections that are opened are all that we can offer.

The Department of Arts and Communication extends a warm welcome to all our new students! We’re thrilled to have you join the DAC community.
We also extend our heartfelt thanks to the faculty, staff, student body, and our program organizations (Organizational Communication Society and UP Manila Salinlahi) for making this year’s departmental orientation a meaningful and memorable experience.

Held last August 27, 2025, the event gave our freshies, shiftees, and transferees their first look into life at DAC, followed by their respective program orientations on the same day.

Here’s to a great start and an exciting year ahead! 💫
