REPOST| JUST IN I PSU El Nido Campus Holds First Entrepreneurship Seminar for SY 2025–2026

The Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship (BS Entrep) students of Palawan State University – El Nido Campus successfully held their first seminar for the school year 2025–2026 on September 20, 2025, at the PalSU El Nido Campus Gymnasium.

With the theme “Smart Money Moves: Financial Management for Young Entrepreneurs – Empowering Your Financial Future with Smart Planning and Strategies for Lasting Growth and Stability,” the event was organized in partnership with the Junior Chamber International (JCI). The seminar gathered 150 BS Entrepreneurship students, from first to fourth year, who actively participated in the half-day activity from 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M.

The program began with the opening remarks of Sir Carlo D. Palo, University Student Government Adviser, who emphasized the value of financial literacy for young entrepreneurs.

The keynote speaker, Sir Ryan Jim M. Torero, highlighted the importance of building a strong business mindset. He discussed the objectives of the training, which included:
• Understanding financial management
• Applying core principles of financial management
• Utilizing financial tools and techniques
• Developing an entrepreneurial mindset rooted in discipline and risk-taking

Sir Torero challenged the participants with thought-provoking activities such as: “If I give you ₱10,000, how will you use it?” Students eagerly shared ideas like putting up small businesses, investing, and expanding existing ventures.

In another group activity, he asked: “If you were given ₱50,000, what business will you build and how?” The students, divided into eight groups, presented innovative business proposals that showcased their creativity, resourcefulness, and entrepreneurial spirit.

Throughout his lecture, Sir Torero inspired the students with memorable insights on discipline and financial management:
• “Financial management matters. We must have discipline. Because discipline is the throne.”
• “Cash only allows us to move. But discipline will correct us.”
• “Financial management is not money. But discipline.”
• “Financial discipline may appear hard. But believe me, it is the key to your financial freedom in the future.”

The program concluded with closing remarks from Ma’am Jasmin G. Abis, Adviser of the BS Entrepreneurship program, who encouraged the students to apply the lessons they learned.
