ISU Specials | This Ninoy Aquino Day, Isabela State University (ISU) remembers the life of Benigno “Ninoy” S. Aquino Jr. as a reminder that democracy depends on citizens who are willing to question, participate, and stand for principles larger than themselves.

In today’s Philippines, this responsibility remains relevant. The pursuit of democracy calls for institutions that practice transparency, public officials who remain accountable for their decisions, and citizens who engage critically with the issues that shape their communities. It also calls for the protection of truth, the responsible exercise of dissent, and the willingness to participate in public life beyond moments of political crisis.

As an institution of higher education, ISU recognizes that its responsibility extends beyond classrooms and laboratories. An educated citizenry is essential to a functioning democracy. Through teaching, research, extension, and public engagement, the University has a role in developing citizens who can examine information critically, understand their rights and responsibilities, participate constructively in civic life, and demand integrity from institutions entrusted with public interest.

Today, ISU honors his memory by continuing its commitment to education that strengthens civic consciousness, scholarship that seeks truth, and institutional practice that values accountability and transparency.

CED Launches ‘SANDIGAN’ Network, Sets for bigger alumni engagements

SANDIGAN ng isang institusyon ang mga bunga nito.

A college is only as strong as the professionals it produces. For years, our graduates have stood at the frontlines of applied sciences, instructional design, and educational leadership. We are the molder of minds, the drivers of sustainable livelihood, and the architects of future communities. Now, it is time to unite our collective strength.

CEd sets strategic meeting today, August 15 2026, spearheaded by College Dean Dr. Marinel P. Dayawon and Alumni Coordinator Mr. Christian Lloyd D. Taguba, marked a pivotal step in unifying graduates from across various batches. Joining the assembly were Graduate School Chair Dr. Mario P. Tamana, BTLEd Chair Dr. Hazel Beth M. Bautista, and College Secretary Dr. Marilyn G. Pasion, alongside dedicated batch representatives Joy Gammad Ignacio (1996), Honorata V. Pinto (1997), and Marcelo Ralutin (1994).

The committee initiated high-level discussions regarding a highly anticipated grand alumni homecoming and the foundational structure for the College Alumni Association. While specific dates, landmark projects, and major community initiatives are currently being kept under wraps as they undergo final preparations, the leadership guarantees that the upcoming announcements will deeply reflect the rigorous applied instruction and nation-building efforts of CEd graduates.

Batch coordinators have already been identified and are stepping up to form the core working committees that will bring these upcoming milestones to life.

All batch coordinators and interested alumni are highly encouraged to attend as the college prepares to unveil the full scope of the SANDIGAN initiatives. Through this unified network, the College of Education continues to prove that its educators are the strongest pillar of the institution.
