We are proud to share that the Transfer Certificates of Copyright Registration for four (4) comprehensive educational booklets on goat production have been officially recorded with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL).

These valuable materials were developed by the ISU-CVSRRC that serves as a practical guide for goat raisers under the project titled, "Enhancement of goat food value chain systems towards agricultural productivity and food sufficiency in Region 2 (Phase 2)"

Ceremonial Launching of the Student Incubatees of the Isabela State University (ISU) under the SIBOL program

The Commission on Higher Education(CHED) held the ceremonial awarding for student participants selected to undergo the initial stage of the student business incubation process at Isabela State University (ISU) during a session yesterday, July 30, at the CHED Auditorium.

The ceremonial awarding marked the official launch of the SIBOL Project, an initiative that aims to strengthen innovation and entrepreneurship among higher education institutions by supporting student-led technologies and startups in the agri-aqua sector through technology business incubation.

The program featured messages from CHED Chairperson Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis and Higher Education Development Fund Staff (HEDFS) Director III Ms. Aline G. Magalong, followed by an overview of the SIBOL Project, the technology business incubation process flow, and the student incubatee selection criteria presented by Program Leader Dr. Jonathan N. Nayga. Technology Transfer and Promotion Division’s Assist. Dir. Lucy A. Lastimosa and CHED Regional Director Dr. Julieta M. Paras also attended the activity.

Student teams also showcased their products in a pitch format, offering a glimpse into the first cohort of student applicants to the program.

On July 29, 2026, the ISU-Cagayan Valley Small Ruminant Research Center through the ISU- ATBI and STCBF on Duck Production Project hosted a Research Forum, bringing together sharp young minds across borders to bridge livestock innovation and practical farm management.

Delegates from the Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Brawijaya (Indonesia) joined forces with alumni from Isabela State University (Philippines) to share ground-breaking findings that could reshape regional animal agriculture.

The forum highlighted the following research topics:

Session 1. Unleashing the Potential of Itik Mojosari: Indonesia’s high performing duck,
Session 2: Effect of Organic Multivitamin Supplementation to Broiler, and
Session 3: Documentation of Anthelmintic Resistance of cattle and goats in Echague, Isabela.

Dr. Mark Langtiwan, the College of Agriculture’s Research Coordinator, reminded the participants that research is an important part of their academic development, and that by attending forum, they can identify research gaps, methodologies, and topics as they develop their thesis proposal.

This forum is organized as part of the project, Integrated Strengthening Poultry Farming Systems and Egg Processing Technology for Rural Economic Development collaboration Universitas Brawijaya, Indonesia, and Isabela State University, Philippines.

Today, July 28, 2026, Isabela State University in the Philippines and Universitas Brawijaya in Indonesia held a Technology Forum on Poultry Production and Egg Processing as part of their institutional partnership.

The forum, which was organized by the DOST-PCAARRD-ISU Agri-Aqua Technology Business Incubation Project, showcased various innovations in poultry production and egg processing created by UB Faculty of Animal Science and Technology students. While addressing the quality of the products produced, these technological advancements are crucial inputs to increase animal productivity. Among the inventions showcased are:

1. Scoring system for selection of quality layer chicks,
2. Microclimatic management system for poultry houses,
3. Acetic acid (vinegar) as alternative supporting agent for poultry house sanitation,
4. Health management tool system for small-scale layer farms,
5. Utilization of local feed ingredients to improve laying hen production,
6. Egg Guard: a post-harvest supply chain system to maintain egg freshness from coop to packaging, and
7. Post-harvest handling of chicken eggs through Aloe vera coating technology.

Moreover, the Itik Pinas Production packaged of technologies (POT) promoted by S&T Community-based Farms on Duck Production project was also showcased at the forum. The forum also featured a presentation on the processing of eggs. Students from ISU discussed the processing technology for flavored salted duck eggs, while UB students presented the technology for smoked salted chicken eggs. The goal of both processing innovations was to preserve the eggs' nutritional value, increase their shelf life, and enhance their flavor profile.

This technological innovation exchange provides a platform for knowledge promotion, which is crucial for promoting food security, increasing productivity, and facilitating profitability.

The forum was attended by Dr. Irma T. Plata, the Campus Extension Office Director, Dr. Mark Joker L. Marcos, Animal Science Program Chair, and students of the BS Agriculture major in Animal Science and BS Animal Husbandry.

Empowering Project Implementers through Gender-Responsive Innovation!

The RAISE-CV Program funded by DOST-PCAARRD successfully conducted the 2-Day Gender and Development (GAD) Training for its Project Implementers on July 23–24, 2026, as part of its commitment to promoting gender-responsive innovation and inclusive project implementation.

Across two days, participants deepened their understanding of foundational GAD concepts, gender sensitivity, the Harmonized Gender and Development Guidelines (HGDG), and practical tools for gender analysis and monitoring and evaluation. With the engaging discussions, interactive workshops, and collaborative activities, the training reinforced the importance of integrating gender-responsive approaches.

The training was attended by RAISE-CV project implementers from the different CMIs, together with project staffs and key stakeholders.

Creating stronger relationships through knowledge and innovation!

Earlier today, a benchmarking visit was done by Sorsogon State University to ISU-ATBI funded by DOST-PCAARRD, to gain valuable insights and learn best practices in technology business incubation.

The benchmarking visit served as an avenue for meaningful knowledge exchange, as the delegation explored ISU-ATBI's experiences, strategies, and operational approaches in preparation for the establishment of their proposed incubation program.

Isabela State University (ISU) welcomed faculty and student delegates from the Faculty of Animal Science and Technology of Universitas Brawijaya (UB) in Indonesia for a Student Outbound Program and a Supplemental Agreement Signing Ceremony on July 21, 2026 at the Alba Hall, ISU Echague Campus.

The ceremonial signing of the Supplemental Agreement between ISU and UB is part of a shared vision to promote internationalization through academic collaboration, student and faculty mobility, research, and the exchange of knowledge, expertise, and best practices. The said agreement expands opportunities for the exchange of faculty members and students, academic literature and information sharing, collaborative research, post-doctoral programs, and the conduct of joint conferences and other academic initiatives.

In addition, the Student Outbound Program from July 19 to 31 is spearheaded by the ISU-E College of Agriculture and the Cagayan Valley Small Ruminants Research Center (CVSRRC). The initiative also engages projects under the DOST-PCAARRD-funded ISU Agri-Aqua Technology Business Incubator (ATBI) and the Science and Technology Community-Based Farm (STCBF) on Duck Production.

Throughout the program, the visiting delegates will participate in a series of academic, research, extension, and cultural immersion activities designed to enrich their learning experience and build cross-cultural understanding and professional development. These include class participation, technology exchange and value-adding of poultry products, community outreach activities with beneficiaries of the STCBF on Duck Production and ISU-ATBI projects, and a research forum.

These latest engagements build upon the expanding collaboration between ISU and UB since the establishment of partnership in 2024. Among its early milestones was the engagement of Dr. Jonathan N. Nayga as a visiting professor in ruminant production and artificial breeding. The partnership also allowed for faculty, student, and staff exchanges, joint conferences and seminars, collaborative research, and research publications.

In 2025, the two institutions also co-hosted the 6th International Conference of Environmentally Sustainable Animal Industry and the 6th Animal Production International Seminar. They likewise initiated collaborative efforts on proposed halal accreditation for ISU-ATBI-supported food processing facilities, conducted academic webinars, and pursued joint market research for food products developed under ISU-supported initiatives.

Event Highlights | Pre-Commercialization Report Preparation Mentoring Session

A productive 2-day mentoring session was successfully held at the CVSRRC Training Hall. It featured a Workshop and presentation on the Harmonization of Pre-Commercialization Report Templates and the Review of Submitted Reports under the project "Strengthening the Regional Agribusiness Hub (ABH) in Cagayan Valley", implemented through the Regional Agri Aqua Innovation System Enhancement Program in Cagayan Valley (RAISE) Program 2 funded by the DOST-PCAARRD.
The event was led by Dr. Jerald M. Velasco and had technical assistance from Dr. Eva U. Cammayo from Isabela State University and Dr. Flormelyn D. Tumenez from Nueva Vizcaya State University, together with the project leader and CVSRRC director, Dr. Jonathan N. Nayga. These helped participants understand more about writing pre-commercialization reports and played a major role in ensuring that there is a harmony of report templates for the commercialization of agricultural innovations in Cagayan Valley.

𝗡𝗮𝘆𝗴𝗮 discussed in the special industry session, today, June 25, 2026 the initiatives of ISU through CVSRRC in transforming small ruminant production into viable livestock-based enterprise. Dr. Nayga presented several initiatives on goat raiser skill upscaling through the 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗼𝗻 𝗚𝗼𝗮𝘁 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, maximizing potential of the animal under value chain approach, and agriprenuership development by technology transfer and commercialization under business incubation.

The session was attended by different stakeholders to include farmers, agripreneurs, cooperative and association members, students, as well as personnel and from government and non-government organization.
