Ecothreads has woven its way to victory during the Entrepsiklaban Batch 4 Junior Level Pitch, sealing the Best Mini Company feat, February 2, at the Climate Change Center.
As per their CEO, Jangee Dela Cruz, their company has redefined the narrative of eco-friendly entrepreneurship by turning discarded denim scraps into fashionable laptop bags, pouches and purses.
“Of course since ‘yung focus po namin as a company is sustainability and eco consciousness, and our goal was to reduce the total amount of textiles that contributed to landfills or garbage wastes within a community, to help further reduce that amount we decided on making products that are smaller so the excess denims that were left over from making our laptop bags, would be used to make our pouches and purses, where we focused on variation to expand our target market instead of just focusing on students and professionals,” he told The Forum.
Dela Cruz also shared that they encountered difficulties in communication and adjusting to their designated roles and responsibilities during the company's establishment.
“This entire journey for us embodied the phrase 'you're on your own.' However, amidst the chaos, we realized the importance of our roles and started aligning ourselves with the needs of each department,” he stated.
Prevailing over 7 mini companies, Ecothreads also garnered major and minor awards namely 1st Place in VP for Marketing and VP for Finance, 2nd spots in Best Pitcher, Best Company Logo, Best Company Tagline, and Best Advertisement, 3rd in Best Company Bid book, and 4th in Best CEO and Best VP for production.
Meanwhile, C&Co. and Rattanaw Co. clinched the 2nd and 3rd places respectively.
Entrepsiklaban served as the final requirement of the graduating Senior High School students in the course Entrepreneurship.
Now on its 4th edition, the Entrepsiklaban Pitch Contest continues to be a launchpad for student entrepreneurs, offering them invaluable exposure, mentorship, and potential investment opportunities.
