SANTIAGO CITY, Isabela โ The College of Education Student Body Organization (CEd-SBO) actively participated in the Human Rights City Seminar and Discussion held at Zen Hotel, Santiago City, Isabela, which brought together students and representatives from various educational institutions to promote awareness, dialogue, and action on human rights.
The morning session focused on the concept of a Human Rights City, highlighting how human rights principles can be integrated into governance, policies, and community initiatives. Participants also learned about the rights and concerns of various sectors, including students and student publications, persons with disabilities (PWDs), Indigenous Peoples (IPs), and other communities.
In the afternoon, participants engaged in the Caravan Human Rights Initiative Planning, where they discussed pressing issues affecting their respective campuses and communities across Isabela. They also shared experiences and proposed possible solutions and initiatives aimed at addressing these concerns and strengthening human rights protection at the community level.
The activity also provided an avenue for collaboration among institutions, with participants from Isabela State University, Philippine Normal University, and other educational institutions coming together to exchange perspectives and experiences. This encouraged a stronger sense of collective responsibility in promoting and protecting human rights within campuses and communities.
The activity forms part of the Human Rights Cities initiative in Northern Luzon, implemented by the Cordillera Womenโs Education Action and Research Center (CWEARC), Katinnulong Daguiti Umili Ti Amianan, Inc. (KADUAMI), and the Cordilleran Youth Center (C*C), with funding from the European Union.
The active participation of the CEd-SBO reflects the College of Educationโs commitment to fostering socially aware, informed, and empowered student leaders who uphold human rights, inclusivity, and meaningful community engagement.
