Capiz State University - Dumarao Satellite College proudly congratulates Dr. Maryneth B. Barrios, Program Chair of the College of Veterinary Medicine, on receiving the Best Paper Award in the Graduate Students: Natural/Biological Research Category during the 4th Graduate Students Research Symposium, August 12.

Another milestone has been achieved by Dr. Barrios as she continues to cement her legacy in the field. Earning the top paper in the Natural/Biological Research Category represents more than just an academic feat; it is a profound commitment to driving positive change and contributing to the scientific endeavors of society.

Her award-winning dissertation is entitled, “Effect of Serpentina Plant (𝘈𝘯𝘥𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘱𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘢) Powder Against Intestinal Parasites and Immune Responses to Newcastle Disease of Darag Native Chicken (𝘎𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘶𝘴 𝘨𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘶𝘴 𝘥𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘶𝘴).”

Dr. Barrios’s long history of research victories is a testament to her unwavering dedication and perseverance to make a difference. She was also the recipient of multiple accolades during the recently concluded 44th University Faculty Research, Development, and Extension (RDE) Symposium last July 30, 2026, where three research studies she co-authored garnered top awards.

The Capiz State University – College of Veterinary Medicine (CAPSU CVM) underwent the CHED Regional Quality Assurance Team (RQAT) Monitoring and Evaluation on August 20, 2026, as part of the continuing efforts to ensure the quality, compliance, and excellence of the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Program.

The activity reflects CAPSU CVM’s strong commitment to continuously strengthen its academic programs, faculty complement, facilities, student services, and overall delivery of quality veterinary education.

This milestone serves as another important step toward advancing the College’s mission of producing competent, compassionate, and globally competitive veterinary professionals.

RESEARCH AND EXTENSION HIGHLIGHT

Another milestone for Capiz State University as they held the Inception Meeting for another externally funded project — DARAG: Direct Assistance to Rapid Augmentation for Growth, a GPKK Project funded by DOST-PCAARRD.

Project DARAG is designed to support the ETG students of Capiz State University through the establishment of a community pantry and the dispersal of Darag native chickens, providing additional assistance and livelihood opportunities to student beneficiaries.

Among the project implementers is Dr. Maryneth B. Barrios, Program Chair of the College of Veterinary Medicine and Project Staff of Project DARAG, together with the project team and partner offices.

Through this initiative, CAPSU continues to strengthen its commitment to research and extension by transforming science and technology into meaningful support for its students and communities.
