Sa pagdiriwang ng 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘂𝘁 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 ngayong Agosto 24–30, ating binibigyang-pugay ang niyog bilang mahalagang bahagi ng kabuhayan, pagkain, agrikultura, at kultura ng maraming Pilipino. Mula sa bunga hanggang sa dahon at puno, ang niyog ay nagsisilbi sa iba’t ibang pangangailangan at patuloy na nagbibigay-halaga sa ating mga pamayanan. 🥥🌿

𝑲𝒂𝒉𝒖𝒍𝒖𝒈𝒂𝒏: Isang halamang palma na namumunga ng niyog at malawak na ginagamit bilang pagkain, inumin, at hilaw na materyal para sa iba’t ibang produkto.
𝑷𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒈𝒎𝒖𝒍𝒂𝒏: Salitang ginagamit sa wikang Filipino at iba pang wikang Pilipino upang tukuyin ang halamang coconut at ang bunga nito.
𝑯𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒎𝒃𝒂𝒘𝒂: Malaki ang ambag ng industriya ng niyog sa kabuhayan ng maraming pamilyang Pilipino.

Sa isang halamang tila karaniwan lamang sa ating mga tanawin, nakaugat ang napakaraming kuwento ng kabuhayan, sipag, at pamumuhay ng Pilipino. Sa linggong ito, kilalanin natin ang kahalagahan ng niyog at ang mga taong patuloy na nag-aalaga at umaasa rito. 🌴🤎

082426 | TODAY AT THE SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY BUILDING

Today, the Natural Sciences Departments Collaboration—bringing together the Life Science Society - NORSU Biology Majors, NORSU Chemical Society , and Geology Students Society of NORSU—successfully conducted a Joint Shelter-in-Place and Evacuation Drill at the Science and Technology Building.

The activity brought together students, faculty, and staff in a simulated emergency scenario, where participants took part as evacuees and simulated victims. Through this exercise, everyone was given the opportunity to practice proper emergency procedures, response protocols, coordination, and safe evacuation.

Following the drill, participants also gathered for a brief session on Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Response, further strengthening awareness and preparedness in times of emergencies.

A heartfelt thank you to Mr. Julio E. Ventulero, MTE, MMM, University Chief Security Officer, for his guidance, support, and for sharing his knowledge with our participants. We also extend our sincere appreciation to all the responders and emergency personnel who helped facilitate the drill and ensured the safety and success of the activity.
