The Silliman University English and Literature Department invites everyone to the 2024 Research Forum: Discourses in Contexts on August 22, Thursday, at 2:30 PM, at the Multi-Purpose Room.

In this forum, Reyshiel S. Libradilla will present her study on the “Relationship Among Vocabulary Learning Strategies, Reading Comprehension Level, and S*x of Grade 11 Students: Basis for an Instructional Program.” Meanwhile, Joseph E. Padilla will discuss the “Salience and Erasure in the Discourses of Dumaguete's Smart City Project: An Ecocritical Discourse Analysis.” The event is free and open to the public.

This is in celebration of Silliman University's 123rd founding anniversary with the theme, "Today’s Treasures, Tomorrow’s Traditions: Cherishing Silliman’s Gifts.”

Catch Karla Khristine L. Melon who will talk about “Existing in Context: An Interdisciplinary Approach to Understanding the World,” and Deo Mar E. Suasin on “Sharing Silliman’s Gifts to the Philly-pines: Journey of a Fulbright Scholar.” The event is free and open to the public.

Improve your English communication skills by enrolling in the 𝗢𝗡𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗘 𝗘𝗡𝗚𝗟𝗜𝗦𝗛 𝗢𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗠 (EOP) of Silliman University's English & Literature Department.

The EOP is a 21-unit intensive course primarily intended or designed for students with a non-English medium background who desire to gain better proficiency in the English language to achieve various purposes, especially academic success in the university.

Fully delivered online, the program is offered every semester (from August to December for the first semester and January to May for the second semester) and may be offered during Midyear Term upon special request.

Admission requirements include a photocopy of high school diploma and high school records, duly accomplished Application for Admission, and Special Student Permit. Students who successfully complete the program will be given Certificates of English Proficiency during the virtual graduation.
