And so the chapter closes for this year’s A Tale to Tell 2026!

A big thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this year’s competition a success. It was wonderful to see so many young writers and illustrators share their ideas, creativity, and stories with us.

Every story starts somewhere, and we hope this was one of the first steps in encouraging these budding writers to keep reading, creating, and telling stories that inspire young minds.

A two-day competition that celebrates creative writing, children's literature, illustration, and storytelling.

Organized by the Silliman University General Education Majors Society (SUGEMS) in collaboration with the English Club of the College of Education–Silliman University (ECCOES).

Selected school representatives from schools across Dumaguete City who are interested in:

✦ Writing
✦ Storytelling
✦ Children's literature
✦ Illustration
✦ Creative expression

𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝟏 — 𝐖𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐘

Participants will create a completely original children's story based on the theme revealed during the competition.

📖 4–8 pages
✍️ Maximum of 450 words
⏰ Writing Time: 5 hours and 45 minutes total

Going beyond the allotted time may result in disqualification.

Participants will create an original book-cover illustration based on their story.

Participants may bring their own art materials. Crayons and pencils will be provided.

Rain or shine, nothing could stop the SUGEMS spirit! Despite the heavy rain, many of you still came with excitement and positive energy, making our orientation truly memorable. It was heartwarming to see everyone still show up with excitement and smiles, proving that not even the weather could stop us from coming together.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this event possible and to all who attended. We enjoyed getting to know one another, sharing laughs, singing our hearts out during karaoke, and creating memories together. This is just the beginning, and we're excited for everything that lies ahead. We're grateful to have started this journey with all of you, and we can't wait to create more memories as one SUGEMS family. See you at our next activity, Be excited! ✨
