𝙰𝚞𝚐𝚞𝚜𝚝 23, 2026

NORSU School of Law took a well-deserved break from case readings, recitations, and academic demands to celebrate its 2026 Acquaintance Party at the Negros Oriental Convention Center.

With its vibrant Retro ’90s theme, the evening brought together students, faculty members, and staff for a night filled with music, performances, laughter, and camaraderie. It provided everyone with an opportunity to strengthen friendships, welcome new members of the School of Law community, and create memories beyond the classroom.

The celebration was made even more meaningful by the oath-taking of the elected Juris Council for A.Y. 2026-2027 and the unveiling of their Constitution, symbolizing their commitment to responsible leadership, unity, and service to the student body.

Our sincere appreciation goes to the Juris Council-our student leaders, organizers, generous sponsors, faculty members, staff, and everyone who contributed their time and energy to making the event a success.

As we return to our codals, cases, and recitations, may we carry with us the friendships formed and the shared spirit that made this evening truly memorable. Here’s to another academic year of learning, growth, resilience, and unity! 💜⚖️

Following the oath-taking of the Law Student Practitioners from 2L-Lex-Veritas and Aequitas, another milestone was celebrated as the students from 2L-Justitia and Integritas formally took their oath before Executive Judge Hon. Marie Rose G. Inocando-Paras at the Hall of Justice in Dumaguete City.

Present to accompany them on this special occasion were CLEP Professor Atty. Marigold G. Ablong and Interim Dean Atty. Marcelino Mikhail Lee L. Maxino.

The ceremony represents an important transition from studying the principles of law in the classroom to applying them in meaningful service to others.

By taking their oath, the students embraced the duty to perform their responsibilities with integrity, competence, compassion, and fidelity to the Constitution and the laws.

As they gain practical experience through the Clinical Legal Education Program, may they remain guided by the values of fairness, accountability, and respect for the rights of every person they encounter.

A new chapter unfolded for the NORSU School of Law as the Law Student Practitioners formally took their oath before Executive Judge Hon. Marie Rose G. Inocando-Paras in a solemn ceremony held at the Hall of Justice in Dumaguete City.

They were accompanied by CLEP Professor Atty. John Henrick G. Abella, Interim Dean Atty. Marcelino Mikhail Lee L. Maxino, and Associate Dean Atty. Mary Sloane T. Rockwell-Callao.

This meaningful milestone marks an important step in the students’ journey toward the legal profession. Through their oath, they accepted both the privilege of applying their legal knowledge in actual practice and the responsibility of serving with competence, integrity, and respect for the Constitution, the courts, and the people they assist.

As they begin their work under the Clinical Legal Education Program, may they always remember that the practice of law is not merely a profession, but a commitment to uphold justice, protect the rights of others, and serve with compassion and fairness.

The PSA RSSO-NIR, thru its Civil Registration Unit, conducted an Orientation and Briefing for NORSU School of Law- Law Student Practitioners (LSPs) in preparation for the upcoming Legal Clinic to be held in Siaton, Negros Oriental on 08 September 2026, alongside with the celebration of PSA 13th Anniversary and PSA NOW.

The activity aims to provide LSPs with essential guidance and preparation for their role in delivering legal assistance and serving the community in Siaton.

Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) School of Law hosted today, August 15, 2026, a lecture titled “Preparing Filipino Law Students for Global Legal Practice” for its faculty members at the CEA-AVR, NORSU Main Campus II.

School of Law Dean Atty. Marcelino Mikhail Lee Maxino emphasized in his opening remarks that the seminar was not only about learning international arbitration but also about broadening the perspectives of legal educators and understanding how the legal profession is evolving. Atty. Maxino added that the activity also aimed to help educators understand the skills students need to thrive in an increasingly competitive global legal profession.

Following the opening remarks, resource speaker Atty. Ricky A. Sabornay, FCIArb, discussed “Globalization, Cross-Border Legal Services, International Qualifications, and Global Career Opportunities.” This was followed by an open forum and faculty discussion.

In her closing remarks, faculty member Atty. Ceres Margaret Catacutan-Mangibin emphasized that educators have the responsibility to encourage students to expose themselves to various opportunities. Atty. Ronnie Abrinica concluded the activity with a closing prayer.

Negros Oriental State University School of Law proudly announces that the Legal Education Board (LEB), during its 285th En Banc Meeting, approved the University's application for a Government Permit Level II for Academic Year 2026-2027.

This approval affirms the School of Law's compliance with the regulatory standards and requirements for the continued operation and delivery of its Juris Doctor Program. It also marks another significant step in NORSU’s continuing commitment to providing accessible, responsive, and quality legal education.

Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) hosted a specialized learning session titled "KAIZEN: Japanese Organizational Culture and Continuous Improvement" today, August 14, 2026, at the CEA-AVR, NORSU Main Campus II. Focused on the theme of cultivating discipline, quality, and institutional excellence, the seminar aimed to explore how Japanese organizational practices can be integrated into the university's operations to elevate both administrative and academic standards.

University President Dr. Noel Marjon E. Yasi delivered the welcome remarks and shared the statement of purpose, underscoring NORSU's dedication to continuous growth and operational efficiency. Following the opening, Resource speaker Atty. Ricky A. Sabornay, FCIArb, led the core module on organizational culture and continuous improvement, introducing attendees to the core principles of Kaizen. His presentation highlighted how adopting a mindset of steady, incremental improvements and structured discipline can lead to long-term organizational transformation.

The lecture was followed by an open forum and administrative discussion, providing participants with a platform to address practical applications of Kaizen within their respective units.

The session featured an intermission number and the formal presentation of a certificate and token of appreciation to Atty. Sabornay. NORSU School of Law Associate Dean Atty. Mary Sloane T. Rockwell-Callao delivered the closing remarks, summarizing the key takeaways for institutional growth, before the session concluded with a closing prayer.
