Flying is easy it is fun and most importantly it is safe! As the great philosopher, Confucius once said, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”. Your first step is to get into an aircraft and experience flying for yourself. Learning to fly is a lot easier than many people think! You don’t have to become a commercial or military pilot to fly; you can be part of general aviation. Today there are thousands of people, just like you, taking flying lessons. They come from all walks of life and have a variety of reasons for wanting to be a pilot. Some fly to expand business opportunities, others to explore careers in the aviation industry. Some are looking for an activity they can share with their friends and family, most fly for the sheer fun of it!

A student’s first solo is a little like a parent watching their child step into the world alone for the first time.

The instructor knows they are ready. Every lesson has been taught, every correction made and every decision carefully guided. There is trust in the training, confidence in the student, and pride in how far they have come.

But still… there is always that feeling.

That quiet worry beneath the excitement. That breath held a little longer as the aircraft takes off. That heart full of prayers until the wheels safely touch the runway again.

For the student, it is the first flight without their instructor beside them. For the instructor, it is the moment they finally let go, not because their job is finished, but because they believe their student is ready to fly on their own.

Because in every first solo is a student finding their wings and an instructor brave enough to let them use them.

Behind every aircraft in the sky is a team on the ground who makes the journey possible.

While most of the world is still waking up, our first-shift mechanics are already in the hangar, starting as early as 5:00 AM, preparing the fleet, carrying out inspections, and making sure every aircraft is ready for another day in the sky.

They may not always be seen by the students and pilots who take to the skies, but every safe flight carries a piece of their work with it.

For Craig Colina of Cebu City, the dream started simply with the sound of an aircraft in the sky and a young boy looking up in awe. That childhood fascination eventually brought him to Royhle, where the journey became about more than learning to fly. Through challenging days, friendships formed across cultures, lessons from his instructors, and moments that tested his grit and self-belief, Craig discovered just how much he was capable of.
From looking up at airplanes over Cebu to taking the controls himself-this is Craig’s Wingsday.

And perhaps this is what makes this picture so beautiful. Not just because of how it was captured, but because of what it represents.

Four Royhle training aircraft sit lined up on the ramp, carrying our students who are still learning, still building their hours, carrying dreams that are still taking shape. And behind them, almost perfectly framed, stand the aircraft of two of the country’s biggest airlines.

What makes it even more beautiful is the Royhle hangar quietly watching it all unfold. From where it stands, it seems to look in two moments at once-the pilots they are today, and the pilots they are becoming.

And every dream of flying somewhere bigger, had to begin somewhere first. For our students, that somewhere is here. Today, they train beneath the Royhle name. Tomorrow, they may fly beneath the name of an airline.

And when that day comes, a part of their journey will always remain here, in the hangar that watched them begin.
