Gearing up for the new semester!

An interesting discussion with the SU VPAAR Dr. Lily Bautista and the faculty and staff of the Silliman University College of Mass Communication.

Meet alumna Tracy Lim, always soft-spoken in class, but also always generating some of the best news and feature stories. She never ceases to amaze us with her skills.

Our alumna Shay Du had always been a good writer since she was in grade school. She demonstrated her skills further when she was editor-in-chief of the Weekly Sillimanian. Then she joined Rappler even before her graduation. And she has never stopped making the College proud.

Our alumnus, Ted Regencia, swears by his internship with Sun Star-Dumaguete, radio station DYGB, and at SkyCable TV which gave him the opportunity to practice what he learned in the classroom.

As a student in the late 90s, Beth Castillo-Winsor was recognized as Freshman of the Year, Sophomore of the Year, Junior Student of the Year, and Senior Student of the Year. She’s now an entrepreneur, continuing to use her skills and talents.

So proud of our alumna, Camille Ibarra, one of the best writers the College ever had the pleasure of interacting with.

Who doesn’t know Hopia?
Proud of our alumnus, Hope Tinambacan, who continues to engage with his audience on social media and in theater, highlighting social issues.

Our alumna, Tanya Famador, is one of the few (if not the only) women chief executives in the international BPO industry; a classic example of her advocacy for gender equality in the workplace.

Aside from recently graduating magna cm laude, Timi Burbano also set the bar so high as one of the most active governors of the Kapunungan sa mga Mass Communicators the College has ever had. He is also responsible for designing the branding kit for our 60th anniversary celebrations.

Our alumna Jurgette Honculada, the first summa cm laude ever produced by the School of Communication more than 5 decades ago, continues to make her voice heard as the country’s prominent labor leader, feminist, and writer. Her interests are on gender mainstreaming and its integration into the political processes. She is known for her critical analyses of the bureaucracy, and the role of NGOs in policy-making.
