We've initiated our first two ๐œ๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐ฐ๐จ๐ซ๐ค๐ฌ๐ก๐จ๐ฉ๐ฌ with the Women's Eagle 2 organization in Purok Ubos to guarantee that the design process centers on the actual users of the space. We have involved the community directly to empower them to lead and shape their environment.โ€‹

We've conducted two key workshops:โ€‹

1. ๐”๐ง๐๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ๐ญ๐š๐ง๐๐ข๐ง๐  - Identifying existing elements within and around the Women's Eagle 2 organization.โ€‹
2. ๐€๐ง๐š๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ณ๐ข๐ง๐  - Exploring the organization's challenges to gain a clearer understanding of their current situation, future aspirations, and potential pathways forward.โ€‹

These sessions lay the groundwork for our next phase: to explore ways to work together & take action.

Estudio Damgo 13โ€™s ๐๐€๐†๐๐€๐†-๐Ž: ๐’๐ก๐š๐ฉ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐Ž๐ฎ๐ซ ๐…๐ฎ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ž is a community-centered gathering that formally introduced our project to the public and ๐ฆ๐š๐ซ๐ค๐ž๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐›๐ž๐ ๐ข๐ง๐ง๐ข๐ง๐  ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐š ๐ญ๐ซ๐š๐ง๐ฌ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ๐ฆ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ž ๐ฃ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ง๐ž๐ฒ for Barangay Tinago.

More than a traditional groundbreaking, PAGBAG-Oโ€”which means โ€œchangeโ€ or โ€œtransformationโ€ in Cebuanoโ€”is a shared moment of renewal where ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ข๐๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ฌ, ๐ฅ๐จ๐œ๐š๐ฅ ๐ฅ๐ž๐š๐๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ, ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ฉ๐š๐ซ๐ญ๐ง๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ ๐œ๐š๐ฆ๐ž ๐ญ๐จ๐ ๐ž๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ซ to celebrate resilience, creativity, and collective aspirations.

The eventโ€™s success highlighted the ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฐ๐ž๐ซ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐œ๐จ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐š๐›๐จ๐ซ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง, showing how people from diverse backgrounds can unite around a shared goal. We had the incredible opportunity to be part of an amazing project with , an organization dedicated to supporting vulnerable communities in typhoon-prone areas.

This two-week experience has been incredibly rewarding and unforgettable for Estudio Damgo 13, knowing that our efforts will provide two new classrooms for grade schoolers in Mahayag. The lessons we've learned are invaluable and we are excited to apply them to our future projects. ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿค

On September 1, 2024, ED13 once again joined ๐๐ฒ๐š๐ก๐ž๐ง๐  ๐๐ฎ๐ ๐ฅ๐š๐ฌ for a Photography Workshop aimed at enhancing our photography skills and capturing the beauty of the city through our lenses. The activity allowed participants to explore Dumaguete and document what they believe are the city's sustainable and inclusive practices.

Everyone had a great time and we are grateful to Byaheng Buglas for inviting us and giving us this meaningful opportunity to better connect with the community.

๐„๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฎ๐๐ข๐จ ๐ƒ๐š๐ฆ๐ ๐จ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‘ (ED13) is a collective of four 5th-year Architecture students from Foundation University in Dumaguete City, Philippines.

What is Estudio Damgo? Established in 2012, Estudio Damgo has completed almost 12 community projects across Negros Island. It is the first student-led, community-driven design-build program in the Philippines, focusing on sustainable design and practical construction skills for all graduating Architecture students at Foundation University.

This year, the 13th batch of Estudio Damgo will explore ๐ฌ๐ฉ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐š๐ฅ ๐ข๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐ฏ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ as prototypes for sustainable people-centered urban transformation. We will ๐œ๐จ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐š๐›๐จ๐ซ๐š๐ญ๐ž ๐ฐ๐ข๐ญ๐ก ๐ƒ๐ฎ๐ฆ๐š๐ ๐ฎ๐ž๐ญ๐ž ๐œ๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐ž๐ฌ to reshape urban spaces in support of social, cultural, and environmental needs. By rethinking underutilized areas, ED13 aims to show how strategic co-design can enhance community life from surviving to thriving within the urban fabric.

Our primary objective is ๐ญ๐จ ๐ž๐ฆ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฐ๐ž๐ซ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐“๐ข๐ง๐š๐ ๐จ ๐œ๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐ญ๐ก๐ซ๐จ๐ฎ๐ ๐ก ๐ž๐ช๐ฎ๐ข๐ญ๐š๐›๐ฅ๐ž ๐๐ข๐š๐ฅ๐จ๐ ๐ฎ๐ž, where every voice is heard, to identify and integrate community aspirations and specific needs into design solutions that are not only functional but also reflective of local values and culture. Estudio Damgo 13 wants to create a lasting model for sustainable and community-driven urban development.
