On August 1, 2026, the Silliman University Reserve Officers' Training Corps Unit (SUROTCU) conducted its sixth training for School Year 2026โ€“2027 at the Filomeno Cimafranca Ballfield.

The training continued to sharpen the cadets' mastery of military drills and ceremonies, focusing on the refined ex*****on of formations, commands, and synchronized movements. These persistent exercises were held to continuously elevate the precision, bearing, and unit discipline of the cadets in preparation for the upcoming Outstanding Sillimanian Award (OSA) Parade & Review.

By consistently applying the core mechanics and commands honed over previous sessions, the cadets demonstrated the vital role of teamwork and repetition in achieving seamless uniformity across the ranks.

Through relentless and progressive preparation, the SUROTCU remains steadfast in building disciplined, competent, and service-driven cadets who exemplify leadership, honor, and patriotism as they gear up for university traditions and their future roles as citizen soldiers.

On July 25, 2026, the Silliman University Reserve Officers' Training Corps Unit (SUROTCU) conducted its fifth training for School Year 2026โ€“2027 at the Filomeno Cimafranca Ballfield.

The training continued to enhance the cadets' proficiency in the School of the Soldier Without Arms and Drills and Ceremonies, focusing on the proper ex*****on of commands, formations, and prescribed movements. Repeated drills and exercises were conducted to further develop precision, coordination, bearing, and discipline among the cadets.

The activity also provided the cadets with an opportunity to apply the lessons and techniques introduced during previous trainings, reinforcing the importance of consistency and teamwork in achieving uniformity in every movement.

Through continuous and progressive training, the SUROTCU remains committed to developing disciplined, competent, and service-oriented cadets who embody the values of leadership, honor, and patriotism in preparation for their role as future leaders and citizen soldiers.

On July 18, 2026, the Silliman University Reserve Officers' Training Corps Unit (SUROTCU) successfully conducted its fourth training for School Year 2026โ€“2027 at the Filomeno Cimafranca Ballfield, focusing on the continued development of military discipline and bearing among the Basic Cadets.

The training centered on the School of the Soldier Without Arms and Drills and Ceremonies, where cadets were honed in the proper ex*****on of military movements, commands, and formations. On July 4, 2026, the NSTP component of Silliman University successfully hosted a Drug Education Seminar at the Silliman University Gymnasium, gathering the NSTP student body for a lecture advocating against illegal drugs.

The program opened with Dr. Giovanni T. Macahig, the CWTS coordinator, welcoming the NSTP students composed of ROTC, CWTS, and LTS, and setting the tone for the opening of the seminar. This was then followed by IA III Elmer T. Ebona, the Provincial Director, who discussed the legal framework of the Drug Prevention Act under RA No. 9165, and Ms. Cindy H. Salimbagat, the Department Head of the Bayawan City Public Safety Office, who then discussed best practices and strategies in preventing and combating illegal drugs.

An open forum followed, allowing the cadets to engage with the host speakers through an exchange of insights and answers.

The seminar concluded with Dr. Earl Jude Paul T. Cleope, the NSTP Director, as the speaker for the closing message, reminding the students of their roles against drugs and in the prevention of their effects, with Dr. Cleope encouraging and advocating for a drug-free society.

On June 27, 2026, the Silliman University ROTC Unit officially commenced its first training for the School Year 2026โ€“2027 at the Filomeno Cimafranca Ballfield, marking the beginning of a new journey for this year's Basic Cadets.

The training introduced cadets to the fundamentals of military discipline through formations, basic marching, and stationary facing movements. A brief orientation was also conducted by the SUROTC Training Staff at the grandstand, where cadets were acquainted with the objectives of the program, training expectations, and the values they are expected to uphold throughout their ROTC journey.

As the first training concluded, the Silliman University ROTC Unit reaffirmed its commitment to developing disciplined, resilient, and service-oriented future leaders dedicated to serving both the University and the nation.

Beyond the campus walls and into the tactical mindset. Last March 07, 2026, the Silliman University Reserve Officer Training Unit performed Small Unit Tactics (SUT). From the wedge formation to the final assault, every move was a masterclass in tactical discipline.

Before the sun sets on March 7, 2026, the Silliman University Reserve Officer Training Unit (SUROTCU) held its Graduation Ceremony in the green field of Filomena Cimafranca Ballfield, marking the culmination of months of training, discipline, and leadership development among its cadets. The ceremony celebrated the commitment and perseverance of the graduating cadets who have dedicated their time and effort to the principles of service, honor, and patriotism.

Present during the ceremony were Rev. Jonathan R. Pia, SU-Senior Pastor; Dr. Earl Jude Paull L. Cleope, NSTP Director; Dr. Betty C. McCann, University President; LTC Nell Brian N. Cebrian (INF) PA, Commandant; LTC Betsy Joy B. Tan PA (RES), Assistant Commandant; LTC Nell Brian N. Cebrian (INF) PA; Sgt. Manuel Arcangel R. Regaspi (Inf) PA, Admin NCO; CPT Guillermo Banjao PA (RES), OIC 703RRIBn; Mrs. Ruby Yap-Cruz and Atty. Eugene T. Yap of the COL Roman T. Yap Endowment Fund and COL Roman T. Yap Foundation Inc. Their presence underscored the shared mission of shaping responsible citizens and future leaders who carry forward the values of duty, sacrifice, and love for the nation.

Highlights of the event included the Honors to the Nation, and Decorations and Awards for the graduating Advance Cadet Officers and selected Basic Cadets, recognizing exemplary performance, discipline, and leadership among graduating cadets.

The Presentation of the COL Roman T. Yap Leadership Ring to C/Col Rallustian, the SUROTC Corps Commander, was the most significant moment, symbolizing the enduring values of leadership, service, and integrity that cadets are called to uphold beyond ROTC.

As Class 01-2023, we embody the Latin meaning of ๐—™๐—ข๐—ฅ๐—ง๐—œ๐—ญ: bravery and courage. Our path was one of attrition and grit, beginning with 120 aspirants and narrowing through the 40 of the COQC, until only 17 remained to carry the name Forces Of Righteousness To Inspire Zealously. Our logo serves as a constant reminder of our commitmentโ€”the Spartan helmet for strength, the swords for action, and the values of Loyalty, Honor, Duty, and Valor as our foundation. We emerged from the fire of training not just as cadet officers, but as a united front of 17, ready to inspire and prepared to serve. ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธโš”๏ธ
