Last June 11, 2026, the newest Sillimanians took their first symbolic steps into a journey of learning, growth, and discovery. For the College of Arts and Sciences – Blazing Phoenix, this walk was more than a welcome, it was the beginning of a transformation.

Like a phoenix rising with purpose and strength, our freshies embark on a path that will challenge their minds, ignite their passions, and shape them into future leaders, thinkers, and changemakers. The College of Arts and Sciences proudly opens its doors to students ready to soar beyond limits and embrace the spirit of excellence, resilience, and service.

Last June 9, 2026, CAS freshies got their first real look around campus through One Big Tuyok 🌊✨

From finding their way around different buildings to finally answering “asa ang TBA?” 😭, the day was all about getting familiar with the spaces they’ll soon call everyday spots.

What started as a simple tour turned into small moments of discovery, laughter, and “ahh diri diay ni” realizations along the way. ❤️‍🔥

One big tuyok later, the campus doesn’t feel as big—or as unfamiliar—anymore.

𝗔 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗮𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗺 𝗖𝗔𝗦𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗯𝗼𝗻𝗴! 🔥🎊

Last June 8, 2026, the CAS Council officially kicked off the opening of classes through the 𝐂𝐀𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐛𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, welcoming both new and returning CASsies to another exciting year of learning, growth, and community.

The celebration brought smiles and sweet treats with free ice cream for all Cassies, creating a refreshing start to the semester. And beyond the festivities, students also embarked on the 𝐂𝐀𝐒𝐚𝐝𝐲𝐚𝐚𝐧: 𝐅𝐢𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐥, an interactive adventure that led them across the various departments of the College of Arts and Sciences. Through fun challenges and engaging activities, participants had the opportunity to explore the diverse disciplines within CAS, discover new interests, and gain a deeper appreciation for the college they now call home.

As we begin this new chapter together, may we continue to learn, connect, and rise as one family of Blazing Phoenixes.

We may not be able to avoid the start of classes, but we can definitely find a way to enjoy it! The SUSG and, yours truly, the CAS Student Council have prepared events and activities that you can join in on.

SU Genesis is a dynamic and immersive four-day event that the SUSG has prepared to foster a sense of belonging and cultural integration among students at Silliman University. Every year level is welcome to join in on the fun! There will be booths that you can check out and activities that you can join during the four-day event.

The CASAlubong is a welcome event for the freshies and continuing students, especially prepared by the CAS Student Council. The Fiesta Quest Trail is a fun group activity (held in the morning) that the CAS Student Council and the societies under the CAS department have prepared together. There are multiple games in the activity that students would need to complete in order to win the Fiesta Quest Trail! The Society Showcasing event (held in the afternoon) is an event where the societies under CAS, are able to showcase the beauty of their course to the students of Silliman University!

All of the said events are merited, so that the students can enjoy these events prepared AND gain merits at the same time! Set against the aftermath of the Marawi siege, 𝘈 𝘏𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘗𝘪𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘴 follows the lives of displaced residents struggling to rebuild amid loss, uncertainty, and hope. The film chronicles the journeys of Yusop and Farhanna, a displaced couple seeking stability for their family after returning home; Nancy, a once-wealthy woman adjusting to life in an evacuation shelter after losing everything; and an anonymous driver navigating the city’s fractured realities.

Spanning two years, the documentary offers an intimate portrait of strength as Marawi residents confront the difficult path toward healing and rebuilding.
