NORSU Social Science Department would like to extend its warmest congratulations to Dr. Justin Jose A. Bulado, department chairperson, for the publication of a book chapter he contributed to the newly released anthology, 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐖𝐚𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐞: 𝐀 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐖𝐚𝐫 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐠𝐞𝐬, edited by Dr. Graham Wrightson of South Dakota State University and Dr. Jerry W. Jones of Texas A&M University, and published by the Marine Corps University Press.

He contributed the book chapter entitled "𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝: 𝐆𝐮𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐍𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐬 𝐎𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥, 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬, 𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐖𝐚𝐫." The book itself contains several articles and essays on military history from antiquity to the modern era. It is also readily available for download from the publisher's website.

The Social Science Department would like to congratulate Dr. Justin Jose A. Bulado for a successful talk/presentation on his upcoming book, Historical Ruminations: Historiography, Philippine Heroes, and Negros Oriental Local History, at the 6200 BookFest. The event was moderated by one of the key organizers, Mr. Renz Torres of DumAlt.Press.

Though the event was a prelude to the official book launch, fellow historians Prof. Earl Jude Paul Cleope of Silliman University and Prof. Ambeth Ocampo from Ateneo de Manila University, if for a short while, were present in the audience, providing a small reunion of the three of them as a pleasant culmination for the event.

Other members present include a select few of the Social Science Department faculty, and some students from universities such as NORSU and Silliman.

The date for the official book launch will soon be announced.

Dr. Bulado will be talking about his upcoming book, 𝐇𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐮𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: 𝐇𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐲, 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐞𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐍𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐬 𝐎𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲, that is published under DumAlt.Press. The book is a compilation of essays on the writing of history and Philippine national and local history.

If you’re interested especially in the local history of Negros Oriental, come and listen to his talk. The event is open for all so bring your friends and family and let’s celebrate the beauty of culture, literature, and history. See you there!

With profound sadness, we mourn the passing of our dear colleague, Prof. Geraldine G. Abella, who peacefully joined our Creator on June 26, 2026.

The Social Science Department joins her family, friends, and loved ones in grieving this great loss. Ma'am Abella touched countless lives through her unwavering dedication, passion for teaching, and genuine concern for her students and colleagues. Her commitment to education and service will always be remembered and cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing and working with her. As we celebrate her life and the many people she inspired, we pray that she finds eternal peace in the loving arms of our Lord. You will truly be missed, Ma'am. We will always be grateful for the kindness, generosity, and warmth that you so selflessly shared with us during your years in the department. Your legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of your students, friends, and colleagues.

Her wake is being held at St. Peter Chapels, Bacong, where family and friends may offer their prayers and pay their final respects.

May the perpetual light shine upon her, and may she rest in everlasting peace.

Good day to all! Posted below is the 3rd 𝐁𝐀𝐓𝐂𝐇 𝐎𝐅 𝐐𝐔𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐅𝐈𝐄𝐃 𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐋𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐓𝐒 to be subjected to the screening process under the Social Science Department for the 𝐁𝐀 𝐇𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐘 Program. These are the individuals who have chosen BA History not as their priority program.

Applicants will undergo the interview process. The face-to-face screening will be on June 18, 2026 (Thursday), June 19, 2026 (Friday), and June 23, 2025 (Tuesday) at exactly 1:00 PM in the Social Science Office 2 at the ST (Science & Technology) Building.

Please observe the following guidelines:
1. Adherence to the University dress code policy is a must; thus, smart casual or semi-formal is the required attire.
2. Bring a copy of your class card or TOR, biodata or resume, and a long brown envelope.
